Skyrim: The Time-Lapse Video

How they managed to keep this a secret is completely beyond me. I just wish that they'd held onto it for another six months. This is going to be a painful nine and a half months.

Everyone knew they were developing it. it just hadn't been officially announced.

The pic of the troll. o.o The concept art was based on an ingame moment taken in 09. They took the freeze frame of the guy taking on the troll, and then the artist drew over it. That means that they've had that long to work on it, if my logic is correct.

So the troll pic was pulled from a 2009 build of the game and the concept art they drew over it is a recent piece of art? The two trolls are way off in scale. The troll in the pic is the size of an oblivion skeleton.

Did any1 also notice the change in the hand placement on the sword in regards to the wrist, I really hope this means they have fixed the poor showing in games of wrist bends and the elbows also.

Oh Greatcarbuncle, it's a late night for both of us I see :P

I know you understand when I say "stupid Game Informer with their American time zone, apparently luxurious lie ins and long lists of news stories to tease us with before Skyrim info while I slowly watch my beauty sleep slipping away".

I can't wait for their exclusivity to end :(

I guess they will talk combat and/or show some screenshots in the next update.

Really? I think it will be more on music and an update that we can play mutiple races.

The troll in the screenshot is standing not far from the cave-entrance. The troll in the drawing is jumping up-in-the-players-face.

Can't you play multiple races in the other games? Why wouldn't you be able to in skyrim?

Hell if I know. They must have hired a serious bouncer or something.
You leak info? Not only do you face a fine, Bruno here will be breaking your knees.

It says specificly in the vidio it was taken late 09. That's two years to fiddle around with stuff by the time November rolls around. Damn, 11-11-11 is a long way off. I'll be living in a new house by then. Hopefully they take the time to try and squash some bugs and other things. I have full faith in them!

NOPE I will bet you my soul they are not even close to the release stuff its all from like 2 yrs ago I bet

There is no reason to believe that. The screenshots from the magazine for one look much better than what we saw them using in this. They may not even be doing paint-overs anymore, which is why they had to show us one from 09, but I bet the just decided which would look the coolest and decided to show us that, since with the art, it doesn't matter how old it is. For screenshots, it does, and they aren't going to show us screenshots(on their own) that are 2 years old, at least not yet. That is probably why they didn't even let us get a good look at the one he used for the painting.

Yes it is, dont claim to understand Advertising if you dont know all aspects of advertising, with 10 months to go you will have to wait till like 3-4 months from release to see actual close to release good stuff, as that will cause a new sales surge for the holidays. We can expect a trickle of lesser aspects ( from a casual players standpoint ) for the next couple months before we start seeing really great pics from in game and actual game montages.

They definitely wouldn't debut this wildly anticipated game with outdated screenshots. What in the sweet name of Akatosh are you talking about?

Oh man you said it. I was so disappointed in Lionhead when Fable 3 was announced so early after Fable 2. Here is a quality studio taking its time. Good on them.

Oh, yeah... the video was cool... I guess.

well actually, if you look close enough at how it looked before it started to change (the original shot), it shows that the troll is actually quite far away from the player. I wouldn't be surprised if they were at lease 1-2 feet higher than the player in the game

Yes and the troll in the pic is really small compared to the one in the concept art. I understand one is art and one is an ingame pic but the size is still way off.

The concept art is stylised. You wouldn't want an enemy as mundane as your average cave troll being that huge in Skyrim. Maybe a boss troll, but your cave entrance bouncer like the one in the picture? It makes sense that he would be weedy.

I love how someone said something along the lines of "if you get your hopes up too high, they'll post the TROLOLOLOLOL video"... and then they did!

I would want a troll to be that big. Trolls should be scary.

This is TES, not Lord of the Rings. Look at Oblivion's troll. That is a TES troll. Build your expectations from that.

You are not getting it. The whole thing is from 2009. The paint-over is to help them improve the game, make it look more interesting. They take screenshots of a scene in the current build(which in 09, that screenshot was probably current) and then turn it into concept art. They then show that to the world builders, modelers and so on, for them to make improvements on what they already have. The point is to IMPROVE the game. Which is why the artist made the troll bigger and more terrifying. Of course its not going to look the same.

Yes. The troll in the pic from late 09 is smaller than the pc. But again its a pic from over a year ago. They could have scaled them to be bigger.
