i dont think zelda games are "improving" if anything they are lacking. whens the last time you saw magic in the zelda series? WW, and how many times have you killed gannon? lots i thought TP was Bad in comparison to what it should have been. They havent released an origional idea for zelda since WW and majoras mask. Mario is the same way releaseing the same game to get sales becuase people buy into it.
If Zelda games are lacking, what is it that they are lacking? Original story? Perhaps... they do seem to be similar to one another. But that's Zelda... what else do you expect?
What was original about Wind Waker? You sail around an ocean? In Skyward Sword, you fly around the sky. Twilight Princess saw the integration of motion controls and a darker atmosphere. Majora's Mask had schedules and a compressed time frame.
Yes, the concept of Zelda games remain the same. You're always the hero trying to save the world. That's not going to change, and that makes me happy. But there's always a new twist to each game. That keeps it fresh. Does the quality of story vary? Of course. But is that any different from any other game/book/movie?
The bottom line is that Zelda's gameplay remains consistent. You know what you're getting. It doesn't matter how dark or realistic or cartoonish it looks, it always plays the same. I cannot say that for The Elder Scrolls. The concept may remain the same, but the mechanics change dramatically.
Ps. As much as I love Ocarina of Time's story, I do prefer Majora's Mask in terms of immersion. I felt like I was a part of the world... and that I was under pressure to save it. I do miss that, but a countdown clock and NPC schedules hardly fit in the other games.
but because it strayed in a new innovated fashion it set itself up to be like that, a console that people dont want to touch. Its like 3D Tvs, they're there to buy but nobody wants to deal with the glasses and blu-rays and such to even bother. Wii is the same way, to even get a decent experience on a wii nowadays you have to purchase a balance board and wii-motion plus, its complex design makes people not want to buy into it.
I'm confused. The Wii is a LOT more attractive to buy than a 3D TV. It was so cheap and so innovative in terms of gaming. People who never played a video game before gave the Wii a try... and many loved it. What other system could you find in a nursing home? Not to mention that Microsoft and Sony both had to get in on the motion-controlled market after the Wii's success.
I'm just happy I was actually able to find a Wii to buy not long after it was released. I actually had to get it through a friend's brother who worked at Gamstop. The things were NOT in stores ANYWHERE. They got bought up before they hit the shelves! It was worse than the Xbox 360 release... but at least there weren't any red rings of death.
