Skyrim on the Wii U, post release impressions?

Now that we've all had some time with this game i'm wondering where you all stand with the Wii U support prospect.

I know i'm probably not the only one who would love the favorite menu stapled to the controller for truer hot keying and non-action stopping selections. Not to mention maps, books, overwold map, item inspection, or revamped smithing interfaces.

Might i just add, it would be a console experience that is closer graphically to the PC version.

after seeing how horrible the wii system i think it would be a big mistake for Bethesda. In related new someone created a mod to use Kinect with Skyrim

I think they need to worry about supporting the current situation, instead of digging a deeper whole with another platform.

Well the wii u isn't slated for another 16ish months, so i think beth with have thier ducks in a rows by then. Kinda how the released a better Oblivion on PS3 eightish months after 360. It's what beth does, they diversify.

if you seen the video in my previous link you will notice how klunky motion control is, but the voice command is astounding.

Dear god, no no no motion control.

The wii u will support more traditional control schemes. With a more tradition controller, albiet one with a touch screen and motion sensitive capabilities, for all kinds of games. hardcoe traditional control styles will be very supported.

What's with the hate on wii u anyway?

really....

The wii represents Nintendo's betrayel to real gamers when they traded the classic game platform design for the klunky half-bake motion control design.

really....

The general feel of the console: geared toward youth and a family setting. On top of this, the original Wii had hardware comparable to a previous-gen system, as if they had just put the Gamecube in a new box and added a new control peripheral.

I think it's these two things that generate the hate it gets.

The Wii U isn't slated for another year and rumors are already out that it just uses updated 360 hardware. If that's true, its another misstep for a Nintendo console. I still don't think its going to have a big 3rd party game library. Basically anybody interested in getting a Wii U for graphics should just get a PC.

But.. The Wii U, of which we are discussing is a totally new animal.

I get the wii hate, but the wii u is a return to roots and third party developers.

After seeing how poorly this game was exicuted on the ps3 and pc, its clear bethesda doesn't want the game on anything but xbox.

you just dont get it, its not directed just to the console, gamers have lost faith with Nintendos ability to make a console that competes against Playstation and Xbox.

The wii's motion controls aren't half baked especially with the motion controller plus. Nintendo realized there was more money to be made in the "reasonably priced" market than the really expensive high end console market. That's why Wii blew microsoft and sony out of the water in sales.

But it will still be inferior to the other two consoles, unless the next PS and XBox are going to run on updated hardware from 5 years ago, like the Wii U might. And before you spend on any of those, you might as well just get a PC and a controller of your choosing.

the wii cant handle the power of skyrim in a hardware sense its just not powerful
thats why i think it would be horrible to be on it
also look at the re shoots onto the wii for call of duty. all of them have to be dumbed down graphically for a reason

wii U

Also... I do blelieve the wii u will change everbodies minds. Let the pudding be proved.

Also it's a triple Plus for beth:

Industry support
Wider distribution
Increased revenues

A skyrim re-release for a new console is definately gold economically speaking.

The wii was anything but a mistep btw. Look at the numbers. nintendo won the last console war hands down.

Nintendo is still boss and Bethesda knows that.

Todd even said he wants his games on everything that can run them. The wii u will be able to and then some. Mark my words.

I just don't see a point for it. Sure it could be done and by the time the Wii U is actually out they will be well on their way to making their next game. Also, the number of RPG/Action fans that play exclusively Nintendo games is minuscule compared to the number of people who either just have a PC/Xbox/PS3 or have one of those and will have the latest Nintendo console. Unless it can offer some major improvements (which the easier menus are a decent start) over the already released version I doubt they will bother.

Again: Todd has stated if the Wii u can support Skyrim unimpeded (which by all accounts it can) then he wants it to. So yeah, i think they want to bother with it.

@ road reaction:

wii u, it's a new console coming out by nintendo that's a more than a nose ahead of the PS3

Bought the N64 - awesome

Bought the GameCube - awesome

Bought the Wii - played Wii Sports and Zelda:TP. It's been collecting dust for 4 years..

I'm wary about buying the Wii U. I'll definitely wait to see what Nintendo shows at E3.
