Doesn't sound much like metal to me, but genre aside, I'm not too into this. That cover I find perverts the greatness and radical feeling of the main theme, which is pretty bodacious. The cover is just ugly, I feel the drums take away from the song far more than they add.

Its okay,too much going on at once and way too much distortion though.

The person could of mixed/mastered it a lot better. So production quality takes away from it, definitely. Also I'm not a fan of the drums. But, I like the guitar. That's about it.

yeah i couldn't listen to it for long. That is pretty bad. I feel guilty being honest but.. meh. Screw it. Someone needs to get Jani Liimatainen to do a rendition for us.

Actually reminds me of how much I mute sound when people attach their own music to gameplay videos.

I only do that to those videos with the "Let the bodies hit the floor" song.

Umm, I listen to ALOT. It's the primary type of music I listen to. I listen to just about every genre of it.

This rendition, while not super heavy does have some melodic metal qualites.

I am not trying to insult you but I am curious what you consider to be Metal? There are a lot of people who think Slipknot is good metal for example. Anything on the radio is pretty much garbage. I myself am into Power metal and all forms of it. Not into Death metal or black metal or anything like that. But I suppose anyone who is a fan of power metal is very opinionated with the guitars.

Slipknot is Nu Metal, which has more in common with hard rock than it does metal. I'm mainly into Power/Symphonic/Melodic/Folk Metal myself.

I never said this rendition is inherently metal, just that is has characteristics of some metal I listen to. Yes, the guitar work is by no means extraordinary but to say that doesn't make it metal is elitist. I'd say the sound is not great, but not terrible and has enough characteristics of metal for me to not say "this isn't metal". If you really have listened to alot of metal, not just big name bands, you'll know there is some pretty bad stuff out there. So bad that in comparison, this is actually not to hard to listen to at all.



There aren't alot of metal bands that call themselves simply "Melodic Metal" but there are plenty of bands out there that fall under the label of melodic. Primary examples would be the subgenres "Melodic Death Metal" or "Melodic Thrash Metal".

If you haven't heard of this then you haven't listened to a whole lot of metal.

I actually enjoyed that song you posted.

This is hands down the best cover on youtube. Just make sure you have your volume turned up a bit before it starts because it's pretty quiet.
