Skyrim - Tolkien's world? (part II)

Sorry bro but the Finnish mythology is not part of Norse myth. It stems from Finno-Ugric traditions while Norse is from Germanic and Indo-European. Finland is not part of Scandinavia and the only reason they have been involved with the rest of the Nordic region in the past few hundred years is because they had been conquered by the Swedes back in the 13th century and remained under Swedish rule for 600 years.

Oh, and the Swedish vikings were referred to as Swedes by the Romans in AD 98 so... you fail. :P Peace!

Oh, I didn't mean Finnish mythology, but Finland as a country today was part of the lands the Vikings lived in.
And yes, it has been translated into Swedes later on. (You didn't think Romans spoke English, did you? :P )

Quit owning yourself m8. The relevance was if Norse mythology inspired Tolkien, and just because anyone who picked up a sword and raided his neighbours during the Viking-era could technically be called a Viking, does not mean Finland was Norse. The 'Finnish Vikings' were most likely Swedish anyway as the east-bound Varangian Vikings usually were Swedes - they likely settled in Finland too.

The Roman word was Suiones which directly translates to Swedes from Latin.

Oh, I was never in on the discussion about Norse mythology inspiring Tolkien, I just wanted to correct you that Finland is part of Viking lore. (I'm NOT talking about mythology, lore...)

There are very few rpg's that don't look like Lotr, Planescape Torment for example as one of those RPG's looks Nothing like it, in fact Chris Avellone said himself he wanted to get rid of those old cliché's "Dwarves, I'm sick of dwarves, and Halflings can go jump of a cliff". And for that reason, Planescape Torment is my favourite RPG of all time, next to Fallout. To be honest there are more similarities to general Norse mythology than Tolkiens world and if I'm not wrong Norse mythology is where Tolkien got his inspiration from.
