skyrim, too good to be true

I agree with previous statements. It isn't legal for Bethesda to delay their games with so many lives depending on it.

So i just recently read that mass effect 3 is going to be delayed for early 2012, hopefully the world doesnt end, and then i started to think if skyrim is going to be delayed as well. if they did delay skyrim to 12-12-12, do you think that that would be a good thing, more time=better product.

Mass Effect 3 never had an official release date, as Holiday 2011 was a mere target window. To be quite honest, shooting to release the last game of the series in less than two years of development could have likely been a disaster.

Skyrim, on the other hand, has been in full swing since Fallout 3, so this game wouldn't be delayed for any reason. If it was, the delay would be only a couple more months at the most.

I doubt the ME3 release being pushed back had much to do with "more time=better product". More likely a marketing thing so they don't get ROFLStomped by all the other games coming out this year.

Todd seems pretty confident in the 11-11-11, no need to worry.

Skyrim has been worked on since 2008, some parts of it since 2006.

Mass Effect 3 has been worked on since 2010. I'm glad it's delayed, the polish will do it good.

Oblivion was suppose to be a Xbox 360 release title however it got pushed back for almost 5 months. Hopefully the same doesn't happen for Skyrim, but it seems Bethesda is pretty confident that Skyrim will be released on 11-11-11.

Pretty sure the only reason why ME 3 pushed back was for Goty, they'd have to contend with Witcher 2, Deus Ex, and Skyrim, and those are RPG titles, not counting games like Battlefield 3 ect etc.

Witcher 2

Truly impressive that one. People neglect Witcher when talking about goty because it's made of a small studio, but this game is a really good competitor as far as I see.

Beth didn't get final 360 hardware specs until very late in development. I believe that's what caused the delay. Now Beth has 5+ years experience with the current hardware and a bigger development team. Skyrim is in good hands.

It was a small studio, but not anymore. About hundred developers are working on this game for more than three years (+ creating new engine). For many reasons, I think that Skyrim and The Witcher 2 are the biggest RPG competitors in 2011.

I'd actually really like for them to delay the game release as long as desired to achieve the most possible desired. The current release date is 'cool' with it all being number ones, and it's always nice having something closer to tangibility but I'd most like them to spend the exact desired time on it, with absence of any 'rushing.' It that means a game being released in 2014, I'd really be fine with that.

Id take a delay to get more features into the game. Specifically spell creation if it doesnt end up making it in.

Mass Effect 3 was delayed because it would have been eclipsed by Skyrim/TW2/DE:HR. They saw the threat and moved it further so it enjoys no competition. So no, I don't think Skyrim will get delayed.

I think it's unlikely that entered into their decision. No matter what year they release there are going to be more great games. In 2012, for example they will be competing with Bioshock Infinite, etc.

Bioware didn't really "change" the date because they had never announced a specific date yet. Probably some of the negative fan feedback for DA2 made them extra concerned with giving this final installation of the ME franchise enough time to do a phenomenal job with it. Maybe they wanted to release it on the Wii Cafe or whatever, who knows.

aye, none the less them pushing it back is a good thing I don't expect sweeping changes really as they are using what powered ME2, hopefully they think things over and realize they don't have a frothing brain dead fan base, that their fans are there because the games are good, not because they are hyped.

anyway Booty's and several other posts have /thread, Bioware said Holidays 2011 they didnt give a definitive date to ME3's release, Bethesda did for Skyrim, whether or not that is more/less susceptible to being pushed back is no ones call, **** happens, like the fire at Bethesda during Oblivions developement they could very well move the date forward or back or whatever, we're no one to say how concrete it will or will not be.

The Witcher 2 didn't even stand a chance against Mass Effect 3, much less Skyrim. If The Witcher 2 even pulls "PC game of the Year" in any role other than an exclusivity nod, I'll eat my own genitals and post it on youtube.

PC gamers are going to have a monopoly on the burnsauce when their flagship title is inevitably overshadowed by an iOS based indie game that cost a years earnings on minimum wage to create, so I don't think I'll have to worry about that.

Totally true, but haven't they been making this game for quite a while now?....also I hope my hype doesn't end before skyrim is released

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that was why ME3 was pushed back, to insure it's own lock on GOTY. Too much competition in 2011 and yes I believe Skyrim to now be practically unopposed.

Na, there is no more Bioware.

Its EA now.

They already produced utter garbage like Dragon Age 2. They will produce even more utter garbage in the future.

Bioware, that was Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, and the original Dragon Age.

They would never have created trash like DA2 back in these days. They are selling out the good name of Bioware now.

I have some hopes Star Wars: The Old Republic will be a great MMO, but otherwise the future of Bioware looks grim.
