skyrim, too good to be true

Post » Thu Jan 14, 2010 3:42 pm

So i just recently read that mass effect 3 is going to be delayed for early 2012, hopefully the world doesnt end, and then i started to think if skyrim is going to be delayed as well. if they did delay skyrim to 12-12-12, do you think that that would be a good thing, more time=better product.

They wouldn't delay it to 12-12-12, that's way too long to delay a game. If it was delayed, it would probably be to early next year, like Mass Effect was.

That said, Todd Howard has already said that they are very confident in their release date, so I don't think it's gonna happen.

No, because at a certain point, the technology will force them to update the game over again. So it would be a better game, but couldn't they just work on TES 6?

It would just push back sales, anger fans, and make them redo the game. Todd Howard has already stated that they were going to wait to do Skyrim until the next gen consoles, but that they have so much to do to improve upon their prior games (OB, Fallout) that they could do it now.

I saw that ME3 was delayed as well. I don't think Skyrim will be delayed and hopefully this locks Skyrim into GotY.

I don't really see why one game getting delayed would mean that Skyrim would be delayed

Two entirely different games

And Todd Howard has repeatedly sounded very confident about 11.11.11

Seeing as half their fanbase would commit suicide if they did (me somewhat included), I don't think it would be good for Bethesda to do so. (or us for that matter)

Off topic, but how can you "somewhat" commit suicide?

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that was why ME3 was pushed back, to insure it's own lock on GOTY. Too much competition in 2011 and yes I believe Skyrim to now be practically unopposed.

Bethesda are not some half assed company like BioWare.
Bethesda are the rulers of the universe!

I wouldn't worry. The development of those games has no effect on Skyrim.

Not "somewhat commiting suicide", but me somewhat being included in that half who would commit suicide.

And even though I'm an hardcoe bioware fan as well as bethesda fan, I must admit that bioware has a bad habit of delaying the releases of their games...

First of all, they're not going to delay Skyrim. They've said time and time again they are as confident as can be that Skyrim will be released on 11-11-11. AND even if they did delay it, they wouldn't wait until 12-12-12. That's more than a year after the current date.

No, it would be tragic :brokencomputer:
My mind is set on 11.11.11 and any delay can have serious consequences.

They've been working on this game for a while, and Beth doesn't announce release dates unless they're very confident, I wouldn't worry.

And on the 2012 note.............The 2012 doomsday theory about the Mayan calendar say that the world will end on Dec 12th, not Jan 1st. GET IT RIGHT! Just kidding lol, couldn't help myself sorry!

Yea, the only game I see competing now is Uncharted 3.

but what worries me is that almost every game that has an early release date is always limited by the time that they have to work with, and it ends up with a bunch of bugs, glitches, etc.

ME3 is just one of the contenders, there are a lot of strong titles this year. Anyway they'll all grab some GOTY awards, there isn't just one.

I'm glad ME3 was delayed. I want to play both games, but if I have to choose between Skyrim and ME3, there's no comparison, I will not touch ME3 until I am done with my first playthrough of Skyrim. One thing to point out though, is that ME3 will actually provide a challenge, however, Skyrim will not. I cannot for the life of me figure out why Bethesda would be so stupid to ADMIT that Skyrim will be easier than Oblivion. Oblivion is one of the easiest RPG's of all time unless you're too stupid to build a decent character.

I'm afraid there will be civilian casualties if Skyrim is delayed. But knowing Beth I'm sure it won't come to that because the game will come out on time.
