From the Imperial Library:

No doubt they will have a very important part in the game.

Isn't Hrothgar the King in the great Mead Hall in Beowulf epic?

Yep. TES borrows a lot of names.

Care to source? I don't recall anything relating to rebellion in IFC, just that spy work in Skyrim is considered a crappy job.

Perhaps it was just misinterpretation that permeated through the forums. :/ Nonetheless, I think that "sons of Skyrim spilling their own blood" refers to a civil war.

Excellent anolysis Lady N, you are very observant as always. It's crazy how many different ways just the word Dragon can be taken in TES.

I actually doubt this is Akaviri. It seems like some kind of local Nordic legend about something ancient hidden underground that is awoken by the Oblivion Crisis.

What is the literal definition of "Dragon born"?

I, too, believe it's most likely we're gonna be dealin' with a civil war in Skyrim. But, just to play Devil's Advocate, "spilling their own blood" could refer to other things. Sacrafice, as in spilling their own blood to defend Skyrim from....something.

But a civil war would give us a good backdrop for political conflict. Something deciding lacking in this series.

The hints of civil war are very, very reassuring to me. My first thought when I saw dragons (after "OMG TES") was "****... generic bad guys". It's good to see promise of some actual story depth.

Its almost certainly a civil war, since the accompanying picture was a bunch of dudes fighting on a pile of corpses. The last Nordic civil war, that we know of, happened way back in the early 1st era.

Just a quick quote, regarding Ysmir:

The Nordic aspect of Talos. He withstood the power of the Greybeards' voices long enough to hear their prophecy. Later, many Nords could not look on him without seeing a dragon.

A civil war is highly likely, imo. Politics is something we've all been complaining about a lot. Just like Lycanthropy. I think we're gonna see ourselves some Werewolves/werebears. :D

Potema, the wolf-queen of Solitude.

Unless they make us play a mustachio'd guy, I highly doubt it.

Yep. TES borrows a lot of names.

I've never really noticed till I saw that.

I've only played Oblivion and didn't see many names to Actual mythology/folklore.

But its been awhile since I played.

I should get back on TES IV. mostly out of excitement and rekindling of my TES experiences.

But I'm guessing theres going to be alot of fire....and possibly from the look of the trailer we willl fight many mountain type monsters of stone.

In the video, when it says the line, slashing swords can be heard and there is a scene depicting men fighting. On the left are bearded men with horned helmets, and on the right are men that almost look like Roman legionaries (?). Civil war seems very apparent to me, which is why I think traditional Nords vs. Nords that prefer Imperial culture. Conflict of cultures sounds like an awesome thing to add in the game.

If you look at the 'moustached guy', he's infact breathing fire, or more accurately, probably using Thu'um.

Roman legionaries (?).

Imperials, perhaps? They are very closely related. Perhaps by "Sons of Skyrim spill thier own blood", they mean thier own blood, as in, man blood? Just a thought.

Also, all men originate from Skyrim, apparently. They all arrived there from Atmora. Even the Bretons can be called "Sons of Skyrim".

Shoddy scholarship from a bygone regime.

However, Talos and a solid chunk of Cyrodiils are of natively Atmoran blood.

If you look at the 'moustached guy', he's infact breathing fire, or more accurately, probably using Thu'um.

I had chunked that up to his mustache/beard flowing in the wind, since its emanating from all over his jaw. Thats an interesting possibility to consider, though.

The numerous re-births of Ysmir are definitely interesting in this context.

Also, I'd like to point out that the existence of huge stone artwork depicting events that occured after Oblivion suggest to me that TESV takes place a long time after TESIV. Or perhaps it is a prophetic stone artwork?

Is the man in the Blade armour a Blade, or is he from Akavire? Isn't Blade armour from Akavire? I can't remember how Akavire is spelt. :whistling:

I'm going with the latter. I mean, if the whole thing is caused by the Oblivion crisis, why would it happen hundreds of years later?

It also seems like the storyline that started in Morrowind, through Oblivion, and through Infernal City is being continued here. Apparently its not all about the Destruction of Morrowind.

If only we had a game Year as that would make things much simpler to speculate. From what I could take from the trailer it looks like the Empire is still in crisis from what happened during Oblivion, The Greybeards will have a role in some form either like the Fighters guild or be like the Blades in Oblivion and be directly involved with the Main Quest I'm going with the latter. Obviously an unamed hero will rise up and help Skyrim out just like what happened in Oblivion. Who the Antagonist is to me is the bigger question is it someone new or is it Mehrunes Dagon trying again for the millionith time to take over Mundus. Time will tell and I can't wait to find out in the upcoming months.

"Their defeat was merely a delay" - Ok, that kinda sounds like Akavir. Though that also wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, being as the Tsaeci were the ones that had invaded Tamriel.

"Till the time after Oblivion opened, when the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood" - Hmm....That could support either a civil war, or massive nordic casulaties during the Oblivion Crisis

"But no one wanted to believe - believe they even existed" - Ok, that's certainly dragons.

"But there is one they fear" - :read:

It does't say its caused by the crisis, just that it happens after it.

I'd say he is an Imperial or a Blade. There are no men on Akavir anymore, and the Blades armor (though influence by Akavir) ought to have innovated (ignore Pale Pass - thats budget restrains for ya)
