Skyrim Trailer Breakdown

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:33 am

Or maybe it's a faux invasion designed to test and strengthen the existing mortal plane a la Revan's invasion of the Republic (before TOR's lore absolutely mutilated Revan's character).
Alduin isn't an evil, 'lets kill everything' god though. He is more like Shiva, in that he has to both create and destroy the world. That flux between being and not being is the essence of time. The Aldudaggas do a good job of painting his character.

So what does it mean summed up?

Its too long to sum up. Its a whole lot of information on Alduin, Dagon, creation, and the Nordic society and world-view.

I don't like this. Too much of a rehash. However, that doesn't mean that the player can't take a avatar-of-akatosh/Talos (Akatoshine? Talosian?) role. Mantling, or just the same metaphysical role, not direct reincarnation.

I know, either way it seems like a painful repeat of Oblivion's item fetcher helper hero or Morrowind's plot repeated.

I hope that image is just a mantling situation, and not some guy you have to help.

I would not be surprised if they tried to combine stuff from Oblivion, Morrowind, or something completely new into Skryim.

So when they say this hero is Dragon Born, wouldnt that be Potema Queen of Solitude's son?

I think the relevance of the bearded men with Todd Howard was along the lines of "Although I don't have a beard, people from Skyrim do". xD

I think this may invole the Dwemer. Structures built into cliffs? The dragons look as though they are underground before that one comes alive.

And all those things are referenced in the video, or could be inferred from it.

Nope, his death marked the end of the War of the Red Diamond (some 300 years ago). She had no more 'dragon' blood than any other Septim.

Vaguely, yea. The Aldudagga has snow whales and floating dirt patches, though :P

He's on a good track, though.

I would guess that it was an illegitimate heir, except that Bethesda kind of pulled the rabbit out of that hat already.

Oh, and yes, I copied your avatar (with a few few adjustments).

So, the UESP wiki has the symbol that was displayed at the very end of the trailer listed as the Akavir banner. Ive seen this in many places in elder scrolls game so is this really true?

The akaviri heavily influenced Imperial culture. Tscaeci were the original Blades, even.

I'm not saying he is. Indeed, since the Aedra lost much of their divinity for founding Mundus and upsetting the status quo, Akatosh is primarily invested in Nirn's survival and wellbeing. A faux invasion that would ultimately result in a stronger and more unified Nirn that is more capable of resisting invasion from Oblivion must be in his best interests as Nirn's second founder and primary Divine?

I'm a relative ES lore noob though, so feel free to prove me wrong (painfully comprehensively if need be).

Not quite. Thats the Imperial sigil, which is influenced by Akaviri motifs, but its not directly Akaviri.

I don't think he is that concerned about Nirn weathering Oblivion invasions. Honestly though, theres no way of knowing at the moment. I think that your particular story goes against his character as I understand it, but Beth can disagree and/or interpret him differently. I'd say that his periodic distraction of Nirn is a possible storyline though.

I still want to know if Calaxes ever had a child. Are their priests celibate?

Ah, but Alduin is the World-Eater who destroys one world to allow room for another.

EDIT: Andorak, people. Andorak.

Its basically just the date as that type of date only occurs once a century.

11-11-11 being the release day?

What else? My mind is too overwhelmed to handle this completely.

Hortator and Sharmat, one and one, eleven, an inelegant number. Which of the ones is the more important? Could you ever tell if they switched places?

11 has much significance in the elder scrolls doesn't it represent something like the tower or chim or zero summing or somethign or other I need to refresh on my lore a lot. But I remember vivec's lesson 29 about "the missing 11" could this have significance? I have a felling 11 is important. 11th is whe its announed 11 months before its released on 11.11.11

Clever. I'm not that versed in the 36 Lessons.

The date probably wasn't chosen randomly. It has to have some sort of significance.

Also, turn the Wheel sideways and it forms a Tower, which could be a 1. Or a lowercase l.

There's only seven numbers that matter to me- 11-11-11 and V.
