Skyrim Trailer Opinions

Post » Fri Jul 23, 2010 3:49 am

I don't know if it's kosher or not to post your own stuff on this forum, but I'll give it a try anyway. After seeing the gameplay trailer for Skyrim, my podcast co-hosts and I decided to do a short video of our opinions on the game. I don't want to be spammy, I'm just looking for some honest feedback. Thanks for your time, it is much appreciated!

My honest feedback is that it was kind of pointless. Pretty much nothing of use was discussed. But at least you do a podcast. That's something cool.

Thanks for the feedback guys. We do understand that it wasn't a very deep discussion. We'll definitely get deeper into Skyrim talk on the podcast and on future videos.

Well...pointless if taken as anything to do with Skyrim. If regarded as "Reminiscences on playing Oblivion," we got some pretty in-depth stuff.

Why it's in the Skyrim area is another question entirely, although I guess that's what the two or three token mentions of Skyrim were for: to technically meet the "Trailer Opinions" claim. Maybe next time they can talk about Skyrim?

Nice job, listened to it all and trust me I'm usually quick to switch something off if it doesn't grab my attention.

I can honestly say that over the years I've watched loads of game trailers and Skyrims was only the second one that impressed me, most do nothing for me including Oblivions (which really didn't sell the game to me but I bought it anyway - thank God). The other trailer that I loved was for the new Star Wars MMO, the one where the Sith attack the Jedi Temple but Skyrims trailer gives me major goosebumps everytime I watch it. It does seem that Bethesda are getting better at nearly everything they do.

I've just watched that other trailer I mentioned and even though it's very good, it doesn't give me Goosebumps like Skyrims, here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOvbv-LkK6w

I totally agree with you. It's really rare that a trailer comes out that both really excites me, and represents the game well. For instance, the Halo 3 announcement trailer gave me chills the first time I saw it. It had barely anything to do with the actual game, but just the combination of thrilling music and excellent visuals was enough to get my blood pumping. Skyrim's gameplay trailer gets me super excited, but it actually seems like it's a pretty good representation of the game. Also, the threat of Dragons is cooler than the threat of Patrick Stewart dying in Oblivion (which we all knew was inevitable, he never survives long in games).

And yeah, the Star Wars Old Republic trailer is excellent. I've tried getting into WoW a few times, but it's never really stuck with me. I'm definitely trying The Old Republic, hopefully I'll enjoy it enough to get to the endgame content.
