Is Skyrim truly dead to Bethesda?

Post » Thu Dec 05, 2013 8:15 pm

Alright, I'm asking this as I'm curious. I remember hearing them say after Dragonborn that they were done with DLC. This made me quite upset as they said to expect lots of DLC, but not just little bits. Large DLC. They delivered quite well. However, with only 2 of the 3 being of any note since the Hearthfire was a bit of a let down in terms of requirements, site for the houses, limited to 3 cities, and limited add on besides the house building.

If they're truly dead with DLC, I find no problem with that, but since this they've not updated at all except for Legendary edition.

The game could use MANY updates and add-ons with the updates. That's why I'm asking, are they truly dead or do you think they'll return to it?

Is there an upcoming update I've not heard of? Any thoughts on this?

I know all of this was quite some time ago, but I just decided to ask these things now as I was still expecting some kind of updates.

Thanks. All opinions and thoughts welcome. Please no hate or rage.

I have a feeling that Patch 1.10 will be released soon with some extra content for us Skyrimmers. :D

I think Hearthfire was a good DLC for only 5 bucks, but to people who don't RP it might be a bit of a let down, I guess.. But then again, some people think violence = quality (not pointing fingers here)

They said they were done with DLC, though they mentioned nothing about ceasing updates.

Bethesda is done with doing anything major for the game since they are now working on a different project(s). They might still do an update to fix bugs but highly doubt it will contain any new content.

If on the PC the mod making community is quite active with a lot of interesting mods to choose from.

I'm not optimistic. I well learned the danger of that when dealing with Beth.

Truth be told I think dead is good...for PC players anyway.

Every time Bethesda patches a game they can be counted on to fix some things and break others...often more than they fixed.

And every time they do every mod has to be put through the paces to see if the patch broke it, and probably fixed by a modder who could have been improving it instead, or possibly fixing something else.

Once gamesas gets their muckers off it completely their games tend to get better faster.

Apologies to console users...you guys are just outta luck.

I don't expect anything more for Skyrim from Bethesda. I think the only way they'll release another patch is if some incompatibility arises between their executable and another major software update, like a new Windows patch. I'm fine with it either way. I'd love to see some bug/glitches corrected, but at this point, the community has made it possible to circumvent any problem in-game (assuming you're on PC).

There hasn't been a bug or glitch on console I couldn't work around honestly due to the helpful people who frequent this forum. Having said that bug fixes for things that have been around forever will most certainly stay that way.

Skyrim is dead. The devs have made it clear they don't care about our requests. There will be no more patches, and no more content. The release of the Legendary Edition and the merging of the forums were pretty much the last nails in the coffin.

I am sorry OP, Skyrim is finished as far as updates or DLC is concerned..

1.10 would be the first patch, as 0 means nothing 1.10 = 1.1..
if they did make another patch it would be labeled either "1.9.1" or "1.9b"

thats the way numbers work

Yes, it's dead. Now that the new consoles are out, I don't think Bethesda will release another patch.

It's dead. While I would love to see an update that fixes the unresolved issues that remain since the last patch I doubt it will ever happen. I personally believe they did not deliver all the DLC they wanted to so they could bring the PS3 version up to speed instead. Just not enough cash and development hours to go around I am afraid.

Most of the team is probably on a next gen project now at the very least.

Nope, they are secretly working on a sheogorath DLC that will surprises all. it got mountable cheese horses, and a buildable player house that you can build from cheese.

Oblivion only had 2 big DLC's and so did Morrowind. I didn't expect any more from Skyrim. I think people were expecting too much when they were talking about trips to Morrowind and the Imperial City in Skyrim DLC.

BGS is too busy with developing Fallout 4 to release another patch for Skyrim.

"Dead" suggests there's no new content ever coming out at all.
