If Skyrim was made into a feature film, what archtype would

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 8:46 pm

Well, the question is simple, honestly. If Skyrim was made into a full length feature film, Hollywood style, all the stops, amazing CGI, great story, and was actually a GOOD movie, what archtype would Dovakhiin be?

Would Dovakhiin be an axe wielding Warrior?
A spell slinging Mage?
A stealthy assassin?
A thieving thief?
A hybrid of sorts?

Cast your vote in the poll and discuss!

Note* This thread is just for fun. Do not post how Skyrim would make a horrible movie. I do not care, nor does anyone else, about your opinions regarding that issue. This is simply about what the OP says. Any post regarding whether or not Skyrim would be a good movie will be reported.

It would probably be the promotional Dovahkiin, meaning lots of emphasis on melee (Banded Iron Shield and Steel Sword), but I'd imagine he would use all styles of combat at some point or another, as most players do.

He would be a male Nord warrior, and he'd probably look like Clay Mathews.

I tend to agree with this sentiment. It's only natural that the Dovakhiin be a male Nord Warrior. Using Iron Armor. o.o

But then he'd have to use loads of health pots in the movie to not get wrecked by Alduin because of his low AR.

@qwato, that's what the "other" option is for. :P

He'd be a warrior, that would be the most marketable character.

I'm going with barbarian style Warrior, at least partly because I would like to see many barbarian style warrior ladies.

I would say a hybrid with an emphasis on swordplay and shouting that has magic at his disposal.

This would never actually happen but it would be kind of funny to watch.

When is the main character of a story ever a mage? It'd be boring to watch them casting spells all the time. Sword n Board = Action.

Warrior. In films, the warrior hero is relatable. The Mage is the bad guy, or at best the wise advisor; as a hero he isn't believable for the average moviegoer and causes the film to be dismissed as a geek film.

The thief is not flashy and exciting enough. You need a character that faces foes head on, and overcomes great odds through skill and bravery. It's what audiences want. The warrior can ambush or have elements of a thief, but overall needs to be a warrior.

He'd be a hybrid of Conan and Aragorn with Dragon Shouts.

Thats about a freakin magic school though.

If Harry was smart, He'd of used a sword to chop off Voldemorts d*ck and get on with his life.

Pffhhht! Speak for yourself! Non-warriors can be just as epic as any warrior in movies if the movie is any good to begin with! Of course a good deal of that is what you can identify with as you stated. While I like to see a good warrior in action I appreciate mages and thieves just as much if not moreso.

Anyway the question was "If Skyrim was made into a feature film, what archetype would the Dovakhiin be?" Obviously, they would go with whatever happens to be the focus of the game. In this case Skyrim - known for the Nords and it's viking-like mythos and themes. They would surely go with a Nord warrior as Dovakhiin.
