Skyrim was rushed because of Mass Effect 3

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:29 pm

Remember Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3? They basically were "it's going to be released when it's done", no set date.

Both were incredibly bugged, it's how Bethesda rolls (and Obsidian actually)

Also, the claims of being "unplayable" is incredibly laughable.

For the record, I've never played the Mass Effect games, they don't really interest me.. I have however, played other BioWare games like Dragon Age. As far as the "Don't play it" comment - easy for you to say? I just spent $60 bucks on the game as I LOVE RPGs and hystorically the Elder Scrolls series have been nothing short of FANTASTIC!! I WANT to play this game, just can't at the moment, it's rather frustarting to spend 60 bucks on something that flat out doesn't work. :(

Learn to use a computer? I haven't had a single issue with the game even after all the crying over a patch that supposedly broke the game. Seems the issue is between your chair and your monitor.

Bioware makes clumsy mini-games that play on rails that are mostly excuses for mind blowing cgi cutscenes.

Bethesda makes horribly buggy low res games that are perpetual derailment machines in every sense of the word.

The two couldn't be more dissimilar.

I am convinced that Bethesda rushed Skyrim and released it with all of these bugs because Mass Effect 3 will be released early 2012. That way Skyrim can get game of the year without much competition.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

This is a FAR CRY from GOTY. If it won, I'm guessing Bethesda paid off a publisher. The Patch issues alone disqualifies this mediocre game.

This game is so broken and incomplete on the console version. (I own a console and PC version, so relax elitists).

Games that are more polished and likely to win GOTY are:
-Batman Arkham City
-Uncharted 3
-Skyward Sword
-And, my nomination, Dark Souls

I swear, the logic of some of these Bethesda lovers on this forum is about the same as a backwards flying dragon.

EDIT - grammar

The greatest defense for Skyrims flaws and bugs? "Haven't you ever played any of Bethesda's games? They ALL need a year worth of patching before you can get past the title screen! Duh! Why don't you just be like all the cool kids and accept that you have to pay for it months before you can play it!!!"

Maybe if people didn't just "accept" this every time it was done, the the problem would be solved by now. If half of the people on this forum are right then perhaps the word "completed" needs to be redefined.

Huh? I can get past the title screen just fine. The only problems I have is the resistance thing and my mouse sensitivity is a little funny.

I'll put it simply for you:

A game with an open-world structure that allows for freedom of choice in what to do within that world, combined with all the scripting necessary to make things work, means that sometimes one script might conflict with another. Consequently, the bigger the scale, the greater the odds that something like that will occur, no matter how much playtesting is done. Programming language is not very flexible.

A machine that has only 5 gears in it is far less likely to have issues at any point than a machine that has 5000 gears.

Exept both compagnies follow the same trend to sell more and more games : remove element after element, mainstream, to make easier game and action packed game.
Mass Effect 2 for exemple was nothing near a RPG, not even an "action RPG" (was caughing earing this one) but still labeled as one.
Mark my words, one day we will have a TES with just a dozen spells, 5 or 6 perk trees, less armor/weapon material and completely merged boots/helmets/gloves/greaves/briastplate/arms into a single armor (officially, for art reason *laugh*).

What OP says is plausible, both games will appeal the same crowd and if Skyrim was to be released after X-mas it would have been in collision course with ME3.

What a joke. Mass Effect isnt even near to be competion for an elder scroll game according to the sales. Oblivion sold double as much units as Mass Effect 2. Rather Fable is a threat then Mass Effect.

@doewnskitty: Those issues are understandable.

Its the same issues that are present across oblivion, fallout and skyrim which are not.

Finally someone who see's the world in the same light as me. Companies get away with this [censored] because we all sit back and say "its ok they'll fix it". Just like the US government and our economy. "its ok they'll fix it"

No, the most common defence I see is from people like me who haven't experienced any serious or game breaking bugs. The most serious thing I've come across are a few textures not loading correctly, and that's only happened twice in the 60+ hours I've played the game.

Todd Howard loves to use the "PC's have too many configurations to make sure it works right on every single computer out there!".

And you know what? I'd agree with him and leave it at that.

Except this game was developed with the Xbox 360 as the primary platform.

The Xbox360 has one [censored] configuration. Yet its version of the game is full of bugs.

The PS3 has one [censored] hardware configuration.

Yet its version of the game is full of bugs.

His excuse falls as flat as his personality.

The love hate relationship Skyrim has reminds me of FF7's, with the haters hating because it's cool to hate...

The only difference this time around though is that it's a good game people are hating on~

I fear for the Bioware fan-boys. Can't imagine what will happen if ME3 had the same quality as DA2.
Imagine the rage...
