Skyrim on Wii 2/Project Cafe/Whatever you wanna call it

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:01 pm

So Skyrim has been officially announced for PS3, 360 and PC, but there is a new Nintendo console looming on the horizon that is supposedly going to be HD capable and roughly as powerful or slightly more powerful than the 360 and PS3. According to IGN, their sources have revealed that the console could go to retail as early as mid-October. Hmmm...

Would anyone be interested in playing Skyrim on Wii2? For me it would be a tough choice between PS3 and Wii2, but as my PS3 broke and I have to buy a new console anyways, I might be pretty tempted to just get a Wii2 instead and sell off my PS3 games (not too attached to any of them, aside from Oblivion and Fallout 3 anyways :P). It would be interesting to see what BGS might be able to do utilizing the on-screen touch display that's built into the controller, perhaps it could be used to navigate menus or do mini-game activities like lock-picking.

Well at the very least I think it's safe to say that it's something they are "looking into" but what are you guys' thoughts?

No thanks. Some things should not be on the Wii. They get all the good franchises we grew up with. I'll be damned if they get the new good games so they can slowly destroy those too.

I highly doubt it. It would be pretty hard to play Skyrim with motion controls. Plus its probably too late into development to port it to the Wii unless it comes out a year or 2 later.

No. And there's been a thread in Community Discussion on this since the Project Cafe rumors hit.

Very good idea... High Res textures and maybe some more things you can run on a PC... One question, is Project Cafe using Motion Control? Because that age is over and it never came so its time to move back to controlling without using motion...

Who said anything about the Wii? This is Project Cafe, Nintendo's new, next generation console that will use a traditional controller (albeit with a touch screen possibly in the middle) as opposed to motion controls and will have better graphics than both the 360 and PS3.

That said, no, I would not like to see Skyrim on the console. It would likely turn out as a bad port seeing as how Bethesda won't have much time to work with it for it to come out anytime soon, especially if the system does use any special features that Beth would have to adapt the game to, like the controller touch screen.

Ah didnt notice the other thread, well its in a different board though so you can't blame me ;) Have to admit I'm kind of surprised to see the Nintendo hate though, I guess the Wii was really divisive for people. Also if the Project Cafe controller concepts are accurate it looks like a perfectly suitable controller for a game like Skyrim

I do believe we have a thread like this over in Community Discussion where I would move this if I wasn't so sure there is one already open. ;)
