Hey guys. I just bought Skyrim last night when i saw the legendary pack on sale. I have never had the game before and wanted to give it a try. I downloaded it and everything was fine. Once done i went to play it and i hit the play button in steam and it brings up the Sktrim launcher. Its got buttons to install, data files, tech support and exit. I click Install and Windows 7 brings up a security question asking me if i want to let Skyrim make changes to the computer. I click yes and the launcher closes and steam opens a window saying its preparing to install. Once that finishes it closes that window, but instead brings the launcher back up and has the Install option again. i can not seem to get it to install.

I have tried opening the game from the steam folder instead of the client and giving it admin rights as one person on the forums suggested and that didnt work. I dont have any mods as i havent even played the game yet so far. Any help would be greatly received.

set it to run as an admin and see if that helps. or right click the launcher shortcut and look for the "Run in Compatibility Mode"

I'm on Windows 8 and I could not get Mass Effect 1 to play. the compatibility mode did the trick. Hopefully it works for you.
