Skyrim will be $60 on the PC

Post » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:28 pm

I wont pay 60 bucks. To me Oblivion was a kick in the nuts. Just a dumbed down pile of crap for the xbots. I doubt Skyrim will be any better.

Sure, ill pay 60 bucks for a quality game, but Bethesda hasn't made a quality PC game since Morrowind.

You just joined to do some bashing, good job there.

Yup.

Some of us are forgetting that we are in an economic recession - which is NOT getting any better. With general inflation as well as oil prices forecast for over $100 per barrel in 2011; expect some hikes in the cost of computer games too.

We're actually not in a recession... we're recovering from one though.

lol, the level of debt and unemployment is still increasing...so the slightest of recovery will just put us back into another recession given that oil price forecast

Price increases all-round (except for things like real-estate) are to be expected.

60 dollars is my limit for any game, no matter how good it is. Even at 60 I'm tempted to wait for a price drop.

I think the PC price being equal to the console price would encourage more pirating than there already would be

$60 is a bargain for a game like Skyrim.

I just joined to give my opinion.

I dont believe Bethesda will make a PC game worth sixty bucks because of the limitation of the console.

If you think that's just bashing then oh well! no skin off my nose, pal.

It'll prolly be around $100 AU new or $110 for the collecters edition even though our currency is almost on par with the US$

Indeed. Those poor pussums in the US, having to pay half of what we do despite out currency being on par. If there's a collector's edition I'm betting we're going to be paying about $150 for it if not more.

Frankly if the game was for sale here for $60 I'd be skipping in joy around the room.

A movie in theaters is like what, $10 or $11? more like $14 or $15 if 3D. That's 2 hours entertainment at most.

How many hours of entertainment does one glean from Skyrim?

If Oblivion/Morrowind/Fallout 3/New Vegas are any indication, hundreds of hours.

My point exactly. I find it funny how PC gamer can complain.

Oblivion is better than any other game on the market. You may say that Morrowind is better and that is a completely valid argument. However, saying it is a dumbed down piece of crap is completely moronic.

You must be very poor if you arent going to pay ten dollars more, for a game that is worth many times that much.

Do you know why it's annoying to have to pay $60 instead of $50? Because PC games have been costing $50 for a while. There is absolutely no reason for the price to be $60.

If the standard price for console games became $70 instead of $60, don't you think there would be a lot of complaining?

If the Xbox was already cheaper than the other platforms then I would not complain. I see your point, but I see no reason to make a whole thread about it.

I just find it funny this guy will dish out money for a gaming PC but can't stand a 10$ price up.

Okay, stop comparing PC game prices to console game prices. Look at them as separate entities, because they are. Console gamers pay that extra $10 for licensing reasons. PC players don't need to pay that money, we're used to NOT paying that extra money.

Like someone said above me, what if console prices went up by $10? Pure and simple, as things stand RIGHT NOW, how would you feel? I imagine you wouldn't be too happy.

Just because you're an Oblivion really devoted fan doesn't mean that PC gamers should want to spend the extra and unnecessary $10 for a game, regardless of what it is, unless it comes with more physical content, like a collector's edition or something.

Oblivion was fun, but it is not the "greatest game on the market." That isn't even close to being true.

So, please, imagine what it would be like to spend a whole seventy dollars on just one video game that, in the past, would have cost you only $60. After all, it's only $10, right?

Also, Mumatil, you have NO idea how much money people spend on their computers, or where they get that money, or where they stand financially. So instead of making snide remarks, leave if you can't be constructive.

I'm waiting for the inevitable $70 games for the next-next-gen platforms. They got away with a $10 hike last time, so of course it will work again in a few years.

And if you think about it, many big budget titles end up with enough DLC to push the final price into the triple digits anyway.

That said, I'll still be buying it even if it does end up $60. :D It's Elder Scrolls!

10 bucks may not seem a lot to some people, but to me it is a half weeks worth of lunches and dinners.

I play on console, because I simply cannot afford to upgrade my pc every three months, and with most games Im content to wait half a year or more till the initial price drops. Sometimes games drop to even 1/3 of their original price.

I am however already saving up all spare money I can find to buy Skyrim as soon as its released. A raise in price standards is problematic though, and I figure it will be for many other people who havent got a lot of money to spare.

I don't know what you are crying about - In NZ the http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-Games/The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim/9868000/ version is $120 and the http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Xbox-360/The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim/9868002/ is $140

However value for money wise it is worth it - I still haven't finished all the content in Morrowind yet :) Besides you've still got 10 months and a few days to save another $10

YOU are not being constructive. Morrowind is a hell of a lot worse than Oblivion. Oblivion was AMAZING. If you counter me with "thats not true! :( " Then I shall counter you with a quote from another amazing game: "Nothing is true..."
I know what other games there are and I know which one is the best.

If I was a PC gamer then I would not be angry. I would be angry if I had to pay 20 more dollars than a PC gamer. You are already getting the better deal, stop [censored] COMPLAINING!

Completely different economies. That argument is void.

You're really over-simplifying this whole thing, though. It's amusing.

Mankar, you seem to be under the impression that your opinion is law. There are quite a few people out there who would disagree with your comparison of Morrowind to Oblivion, and there are even more who would disagree with your opinion of Oblivion being "amazing."

And you're right, we were getting the better deal, but now we're not. Any sort of deal is now gone. Now there is an unnecessarily tacked on $10 to the price tag, and some people, including myself, aren't too thrilled.

Do me a favor, every time you spend your $60 on an Xbox game, give another $10 to me. That way, you can see how it's like to spend $10 extra on a game, and I can be that much closer to being able to afford it when it comes out. Would you be willing to do that?
