skyrim with guns?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 2:57 pm

now that the fallout is using skyrim system, I feel that for me much of the fallout was not present, it may be because I could not feel involved in skyrim system, whenever I tried to do anything beyond a pure warrior or pure mage was unplayable, merchant + smith + enchanter? does not kill neither the first dragon ... usually I play with a character with high charisma and merchant, but all that proved so far is the do the same as they did with mass effect, remove the RPG and turn into a pure shootr.
I hope this is wrong but they insisted on spending almost five minutes on Imagen of shooting, which does not make me have high hopes.

ps. sorry for my bad English.

They already cut skills supposedly. The dumbing down has begun.

Yeah it seems more like Farcry, just a open world action game with little rpg elements.

Unless they did something spectacular with perk chart and how Special interacts in game.

The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series have always revolved around combat. Not trying to be rude, but this isn't Star Wars Galaxies where you can totally avoid combat and still get a lot out of the game. The non-combat skills (smithing, enchanting, merchant) are meant to compliment your combat preferences, not to carry you through boss fights.

EDIT: Unless I'm not understanding where you're coming from...

Such a joke. People have said...

Fallout 3 was oblivion with guns. Skyrim was fallout 3 with swords. And now fallout 4 is skyrim with guns? Seriously wtf is this roundabout and why are we on it again?

Make your minds up! It can't be both.

... I've had dozens of RP completely avoid combat in the TES series.

I think you are mistaken both Fallout 1 and 2 and some parts of the new Vegas was possible to do without shooting ..

I almost did not play skyrim, and certainly never said I was like fallout 3 in skyrim after they removed almost every part of the status in a while in fallout 3 you still had it.

I've always enjoyed Fallout more than TES. Each one is unique in their own way. I don't really see how people tend to blend them together in such a way they are copying and pasting stuff from one game to another.

Certainly seems that way. Mixed with Minecraft, Tycoon games and Tower Defense.

(Though nothing much Fallout to be seen, except for certain aesthetic calls and few familiar names.)

@Creeping Damp

I seriously hope the skills were not cut - I know they did not make an appearance in the footage shown but I am remaining optimistic about them

Not sure what you're expecting.

In order for the series to continue pulling in (sales) numbers, it needs to evolve and change. Sure, there's those who were perfectly happy with Fallout/Fallout 2 and would love nothing more of the same in a different setting with maybe slightly tweaked mechanics.

But at least consider this from the view point of the game makers - they'd like for their game to be a (commercial) success as it keeps them in business and depending on the success also keeps the series alive. And, if we're really lucky, said success allows for spin-offs into old-school RPG territory with Top-Down or Isometric views etc.

For me personally, I am happy to see that scavenging/building is going to play a part in FO4. It's something I always wanted. There's a destroyed world, people are scattered and somewhat lost and now I just might get a chance to go out, scrap stuff and build my own little community to manage against what the wasteland throws at me.

They are made from the same company with the same engine, they have much of the same feel.

Some designs are the same as all the clutter who has been in since morrowind, it makes even more sense in the fallout universe where its lots of junk around.

Something is different, like the approach to quests, in all the elder scrolls games they are pretty linear. at most one branching, Fallout 3 has far more option in how to solve it, New Vegas go way longer but even Fallout 3 has more of it than both Oblivion and Skyrim.

The start is also different, i think they try to make their own style here making it more personal expanding on that they did in Fallout 3 hopefully learning something from New Vegas.

The framework and the new armor and crafting system is something who is possible because of current generation consoles and will carry over to TES 6 adjusted and improved.

I kind of liked the way Skyrim handled skills and think they would work very well in the context of the Fallout series, shooting a gun improving shooting, repairing stuff improving your repair ability, successfully bartering improving your bartering ability, etc.

Seems more immersive than choosing to put points in a skill.....more like your character is actually gaining the experience with you.

I'm also happy to see the settlements idea being used, since it never made much sense to me that in Fallout 3 that I couldn't, I had enough weapons, ammo, food, water and other supplies that I could have set up my own place....with hokers and blackjack.

Yup.

It has perks with ranks because the skill system in fallout is terrible.

Much better system now.

An gun with an sword is called an rifle with bayonet who I assume you can modify the gun to have. If your gun is an rock it launcher it might be able to shoot this. The previous rock it launcher was unabel to shoot other weapons, this was an obvious bug as it would be better to shoot stuff like swords, pulse grenades, missiles, plasma mines and mininukes with one gun.

It just has perk ranks, since they're dumbing the game down to attract more simian gamers. Things that were skills, like science, show up as perks.

In your post your explain how the system is exactly the same as skills, instead of 100 ranks we have 1-4.

And then you somehow make the connection that such a system is dumbed down.

How do you figure that? After having shown it is the same thing, minus the word skill, I'm very curious how your Neanderthal brain came to such a conclusion.
