I think that if I compared Skyrim to what I'd have expected of it, the answer was no. But, realistically, if I put it beside other games I give Skyrim GOTY. Bethesda is the only company that I know of really tackling that huge, open world RPG-thing. And hopefully other companies will take notice if Beth gets GOTY every time they put something out there.
Similar feelings.
I knew there'd be issues with Skyrim's combat, but there were a number of pretty big let downs despite my skepticism. Alchemy, for one, is a worse system than they had in Oblivion. The crafting skills in general are horribly balanced. The level scaling isn't as good as I'd hoped, but granted still better than Oblivion. Perks are an improvement overall but they clearly didn't take a lot of time balancing them. The magic system was definitely over-hyped, and there are quite a few lackluster spells among an already short list of spells. Combat overall is the same clunky TES style we had in Oblivion, with only a few real improvements. And so on and so on. Still probably a GOTY though.
