Skyrim won Game of the Year question is does it deserve it?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:31 am

Okay for those of you who watch the VideoGameAwards then you know it won the Game of the Year award HOWEVER does it deserve it okay lol i know I'm hating on it but think about it for a game who had problems a week or weeks after it was release then following a patch that caused new problems to the game that adds on the old problems anyways from:buckets on heads, people flying off to space after a power hit, dragons flying backwards, texture problems and so on...it occur to me after all of this stuff being reported it still won GOTY and my question to you loyal die hard Bethesda fans does this game deserve the GOTY award?

Yes. Lots of thread like this as well.

Spike VGA are decided by a panel/committee that votes. They are entitled to vote for whichever game they feel is GOTY (they are all part of the industry in some way, just like the Oscars are voted for by people related to film etc). Evidently their experience with the game was a GOTY one.

Much like mine has been.

I think that if I compared Skyrim to what I'd have expected of it, the answer was no. But, realistically, if I put it beside other games I give Skyrim GOTY. Bethesda is the only company that I know of really tackling that huge, open world RPG-thing. And hopefully other companies will take notice if Beth gets GOTY every time they put something out there.

Maybe it does deserve GOTY.

There's a lot to like about Skyrim but I think it has too many issues, both technical and design wise. It makes a great first impression but leaves a sour taste.

YES! My gaming experience has been excellent! I really couldn't have asked for more. I usually don't get hooked to easily anymore, the most hours I've logged on any game since I got my new PC in September is 40hrs on Fallout NV & 40 ish hours in Red Orchestra 2. That was over the course of two months. Skyrim on the other hand has commanded over 130hrs of game play so far and thats just vanilla content, the only mod I've installed is a replacement font.

Skyrim will be my game of the year for quite a while, so it gets my vote.

Easily and yes.

The gravy is it's been a great year for game releases, quality of product, and Skyrim will still clean up.

Batman is the only game that came close for me although I'm enjoying Deus EX atm so I hope that also gets a nod from the industry at some stage.

Haters gonna hate.

This game isn't GOTY even if it were free of its many technical issues.

how do you think david koresh managed to find so many weak willed people to do what they did ?

GOTY means nothing anymore, its been abused too much, its as bent as the oscars or horse racing ;).

Damn it ChAoTic_MaYhEm, I had a bet that a post like this would be second, you should have typed faster.

But thanks for the hyperbole. I lost a bet but I got a laugh at the image of a gamers playing with ticking time-bombs.

But anyway, I've been playing mine a lot and it hasn't exploded yet. Do you think my time-bomb is defective?
