I am so frustrated by this, i could cheefully get a plane ticket, take their stupid consol to microsoft in person and smash someone in microsoft over the head with it. Which right now is about all its good for.

The issue is that the system wants to run a security check it says, and demands input of my account and password. But i cant remember my password since all that admin guff was only needed to set it up over a year ago. But anyways i go to the 'forgot password' page using a pc and check the box for sending a reset link to my email and an error message says the web page does not work. Now the thing is, i have the skyrim disc, i shouldn't have to have an internet connection to play what i bought. You dont have this issue in any form on ps3. Why did microsoft have to add all this complication just to play a darned game. In fact that reminds me, when my boys all got their xbox consols we had to set up separate email accounts for each of them, what a load of BS. Well, microsoft i can tell you this, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER XCONSOL AGAIN. Well that is unless Bethesda only issue the next TES on one. Seriously, i only bought the blasted xboxs because we all love TES in my house and it was too unstable on our ps3s. I hate xboxs now.......Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

You need the internet for your live account only. Without live, you get no upgrades or updates to the Xbox 360 or Skyrim. You also lose the cloud backup service. You should be able to set a non-live user account on the Xbox and play Skyrim.

I might suggest this as something to get you to take a closer look at PC gaming. At least there you have more choice with your DRM.

Ok i finally managed to beat the gits. I had to set up a new email account and password. But then the system recognised that my boys age was below advlt. So then I had to set up a parent account with a new email and password. But then i had to veryify MY age, so it wanted my credit card detail - in full. At that point i was livid. The screen says its only for verification and i wont be charged, but how can i trust that? If they did bill me, i would have a tough time getting it back for sure. So in the end i cheated and set his consol up as if it as for me, using my new email account to do so.

So by now ive wasted like two and a half hours of my evening to fart about with the most frustrating officious computer generated system nonsense that ive had to deal with since trying to do an online tax return. Also, to cap it all, due to re initializing the xbox, my poor lad has lost his high level character saves that hes sweated days over. In conclusion microsoddinsoft im not feeling the love or having fun yet......its just a damn games machine, its not meant to be this hard......and i bet others have been through this mill too.

Now im off to play my version of skyrim - legendary DiD play is much less frustrating that setting up an xbox......ha!

I found it annoying to have to first go to the pc and setup a live email account in order to setup a Xbox Live account. "Why not just set it up in the Xbox, I thought." Soooooo, got to laptop, make bogus name live email account. Then go back into Xbox and give it the email address. I also found it annoying that once you do connect to live two things happen: You get ultimatums from Microsoft: "Install this update or else!" "Install this other update or else!" Great PR, guys. The other is that if you disconnect the Xbox afterword you get a nag screen every time you log into a profile, even with profiles that don't have an associated Xbox live account. "We couldn't connect to live. Would you like to run diagnostics?" Well, no. Same answer as the last hundred times you asked me.

A tip: Don't delete your old 360 player profile after creating a new one. Skyrim saves can not be moved from one profile to another.
