Skyrim won't stop crashing

Post » Tue Jan 26, 2016 4:36 pm

Right after I downloaded the Creation Kit, Skyrim started crashing at the Bethesda logo. Before I installed the Creation Kit Skyrim was working just fine, then I downloaded it as soon as I exited Skyrim and opened it and tried to practice modding until I gave up and scrapped my creation. After that, I just exited the Creation Kit and tried launching Skyrim again but it crashed! I've tried fixing the problem in any way I could think of but I can't figure out what's wrong. I've tried uninstalling mods, downloading all the dlcs, using TES5Edit, but nothing seems to be working. I'm thinking about uninstalling Steam and reinstalling it, but I'd much rather that be a last resort. Can anybody help me with this?

I'd dare guess you deleted, removed, modified a master file somewhere. One of your mods is most likely looking for a particular master and it is crashing on startup. Probably from not removing all of the mods components and left an esp behind.

What mod manager are you using?

What is your load order?

Post it wrapped in spoiler tags to prevent a wall of text, if you have a lot of mods.

Are you running LOOT?

I use Nexus Mod Manager.

And me being the noob that I am, I don't know what a load order is, and I don't know what LOOT is. (sorry)

I feel your pain.

I'm not great with mods either and my advice is not to use them unless you have to.

That doesn't cure your problem, though. I had an incident recently (less serious than yours) and it caused me to lose some of my perks. I tried seeking advice from the mod vendors but didn't get any joy (that's the distributors, not the author of the mod). That's not to say that you'll get the same lack of response. If you suspect which mod caused the problem, try contacting the author of the mod directly (they often give a contact e-mail). They shouldn't be upset by this if you're polite enough because it's good feedback for them. Try the site that you got the mod from. If it's N...( you know who), they have forums.

I wish you well and hope it gets fixed soon.
