Skyrim won't stop freezing (xbox 360)

Post » Fri Jan 17, 2014 9:41 pm

I'm lucky if I get half an hour without my xbox freezing up. It only happens this regularly with Skyrim. Eccentrically, I have no less than 22 saves for only two characters, for fear of them being deleted.

I'm wondering if this is contributing to the issue? I clear my system cache regularly.

Do you fast travel a lot? I find that fast traveling always made my game freeze.

I had 557 saves on Xbox and it never froze up on me.

If it's not that, maybe one of the DLC's are corrupted? If so then re-download them.

Edit- why is this in the morrowind section? xD.

I redownloaded Dragonborn, and I didn't have this issue after Dawnguard was downloaded until now. I literally never fast travel.

Whoops! I did not mean to do that. Sorry Harry. I shouldn't have done that.

Huh, might be dawnguard bug. (I have one where I can't play dawnguard offline on 360)

You have hearthfire too right? maybe try re-downloading all the DLC? It might fix any bugs.

Okay. I'll redownload the DLC and see if I still have any issues. Freezing isn't considered a bug is it?

Edit: do I just delete the DLC and redownload it? My Nord is in the Dawnguard, might be a problem?

Yea it will cause problems cause the save has dawnguard and dragonborn stuff so first delete the DLC's then load up the save file (You're gonna lose everything dawnguard-ish except your level) then re-download the dlc's.

Ughhh. I don't think I can bring myself to do that. His very being relies on Dawnguard equipment. His only physical weapon is a crossbow, he wears Dawnguard armour, Dawnguard spells. He's quite far in the quest line too.

I might just wait until I have a PC and convert the save. You can do that right?

Yes, it can be done. However, I have heard differing opinions regarding whether it's actually legal to do so and whether or not it violates Microsoft's terms of service.

As far as the freezing goes, it may decrease if you uninstall and reinstall the game and DLCs. Dragonborn did this to my game too, the first I installed it. The freezing seems to be a very common issue (yes, it is a bug and a very severe one) and it was getting so frequent for me that I finally decided to switch to playing Skyrim on the PC, because the unofficial patches fix a lot of stuff that can cause the game to crash (freeze). I think the game freezing is caused in large part to scripts in the game not functioning correctly and unfortunately there are thousands of malfunctioning scripts in this game and its DLCs.
