Skyrim vs. WoW

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:51 am

I almost regret starting this thread before I begin. I hate to be "That guy" who brings World of Warcraft into the conversation. However, I was having an argument with my friend who claims "WoW and Skyrim are basically the same thing." Beside the fact I have a stupid and misinformed friend, please leave a bullet point list detailing why the two games are nothing alike so I can prove him wrong.

Why can't you explain these points yourself?

World of Warcraft is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game that requires $15 a month. Skyrim is a single player open world role-playing game that requires $60 to purchase and play for as long as you want.

Point proven.

Ok explain it this way:

WoW is a MMO that is heading for the toilet because Blizzard are clueless.

Skyrim is a absolute masterpiece and is one of the best selling single player games yet and has not even been out 2 weeks hardly.

- WoW requires you to deal with idiots, both real people, and NPCs, that you cannot permanently kill. Skyrim lets you kill idiot NPCs.

- WoW is the same thing, and has been the same thing for 7yrs, go kill stuff, collect stuff, or run somewhere. Skyrim is do whatever you like.

- End game in WoW is boring and again, has not changed since it was released 7years ago. Skyrim has no end game, for it is open world.

- Like the person above me, Skyrim is $60 for life with OPTIONAL dlc in the future, WoW is $20 for the the orignal game and first expansion, $50 for the second expansion, $40 for the third, $15 a month, and another expansion coming. If you do not buy the expansions, everyone will call you a noob and you will never get to do anything with anyone who may potentionally be nice.

I believe this kind of "VS" topics aren't allowed. But to answer your topic both games have different perspective regarding rpg.

Comparing WoW to Skyrim is like comparing an apple to an orange.

Yes, they are both fruit, but they taste completely different.

Yes, WoW and Skyrim are both RPGs, but they play completely diffrent.

Still, Skyrim is better.

Yeah, no vs. threads allowed, and I'm sure you'll see why if this stays open long enough.

But they probably shouldn't be compared anyways. Too many differences, multiplayer being the biggest one.

Why bother, if he want to put them in the same boat, its he's lost, don't waste your energy trying to convince him otherwise.

You don't have a permanent impact on the world in MMOs. You do the same quests everyone else does, you get your reward, and nothing changed. In Skyrim the world changes permanently as you do quests.

Deathwing is a dragon, so is Alduin. The similarities end there.
