Skyrim: PC or Xbox 360?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:20 pm

I am getting Skyrim on Friday and I am faced with a problem. I can either get Skyrim on PC or Xbox (my PC can handle it). I like the keyboard and I am also comftorable with the controller, but are the controlls better on the PC (easier to navigate, fight, move around, etc)? Are there any game breaking bugs or glitches on the Xbox or PC? I might use the mods, but maybe one or two just to mess around and I might get the DLC if I like the game. So..... which should I get it on?

P.S: Is there multiplayer?

If your PC can handle It, PC. Why? Mods. They can make your game virtually everlasting, not to mention, bigger, better and more appealing. Seriously, with mods, any TES game is the BEST GAMEH EVARR!!!11!

if you have the pc for it get it for that. Out of the two consoles, the xbox has the less problems. It's really just a matter of preference.

get PC best of all worlds and if your PC can run it you shouldn't have any issues + mods

there is no MP now there is a chance another mod may come out and try it as one did in Oblivion but do not count on such.

Right now, I'd rather, and do, play it on the 360. When the PC version is more stable, and plenty of juicy mods have been made with the creation kit, then I will build a PC for Skyrim. I'll probably wait about a year though.

PC should win.. Unless your in denial.. Both PS3 users and 360 users should see that Mods and better graphics can make one of the best games even better..

PC. Bethesda games really shine because of mods.

If you can, PC all the way. Being able to use the console to fix things, mods to add and change things to your wildest dreams, the Creation Kit and better graphics.

Plus like mentioned, I use my wireless Xbox controller with it too. The best of both worlds.

Also, don't mention multiplayer. People here will jump at the chance to stab you in the back for simply mentioning it.

I'd go for PC if you can handle performance or stability issues. You never know what you'll run into. XBox is the safest choice as it's the targeted platform of the game. You'll also get the official DLCs a month early.

However if you want this game to shine in the long run and plan to play it for more than one simple playthrough of the MQ and the guilds quests, you might want to consider PC. The mods that will be coming out add so much in terms of lasting gameplay and there'll be tons of them once the CK comes out.

No multi player

I would recommend getting it on pc. if your used to games on pc then it should be too different for you and the keys are configurable so you can change it to your liking. Not to mention the Unofficial Skyrim Patch will make it much more stable than any console game. We have a fantastic modding community that will fix all the major glitches and bugs that Beth never gets around to fixing. So even if your not into some of the more extravagant mods you can at least have a very stable vanilla experience.

If you're planning to play Skyrim for a few or more years I recommend getting it for the pc. Decent but powerful gaming pc's are increasingly becoming more affordable. Playing in the consoles is like being stuck in the 80's when players settle for what they paid for. Back then If you didn't like the neon blue sky or didn't like the shape of the car, etc., well, too bad. You had no power whatsoever to change anything. In fact, in those dark ages of gaming if you were stuck in a level and you were stupid, didn't have friends or have a game guide, you were stuck there forever unresolved. Thank God with today's information age like the forums.

I have it on both formats and while I think the PC game is both better graphically and will have a fantastic modder's community, I tend to currently play it more on the 360. The reasoning, I have a big comfy lazyboy to sit in, a 55 inch TV to play it on and I like the xbox controller. That's not to say I don't play it on PC because I do (normally whenever its my wife's turn to venture into the realm of Skyrim)

I could move the PC into the lounge i suppose.... hmmmmm.... wonder what the wife would say to that... lol

Anyway, you can transfer your saves between both the 360 and PC formats... so I when I do play on the PC, i just import the 360 save and continue from there..... its all good :)

If your PC can handle it, definitely go PC. But because I prefer the 360 controller, I would recommend downloading some sort of 360 controller emulator and plugging that into your PC. Best of both worlds!

Skyrim has built in support for the 360 controller :)

It's awesome.

I have and love it on PC except climbing mountains in skyrim seems like a task that just wasn't made for PC's and keyboards. :/

PC versions supports the 360 controller so no reason for 3rd party emulators that would be required using a PS3 controller however.
