Is Skyrim Your First ES Game?

Post » Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:16 pm

Nope, I played through Oblivion, and tried my hand at Morrowind, but couldn't get past the horrendous gameplay. Great story and wonderfully developed world though.

I've also played Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Now I'm looking forward to Fallout 4.
This is exactly the same as myself, on all counts.

Sadly, yes. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind I'm going to play Morrowind though. My friend has it & oblivion and he asked if i want to borrow them. As soon as I'm done with Skyrim (I use "soon" horribly lightly) I'm going to start one. Which should I play first.

Indeed skyrim is my first TES game, it was so amazing that I decided to try Oblivion but unfortunately found it pretty hard to get into it. I know all the games are amazing though ^_^

Oblivion has it's own beauty, one that's not for some

Pretty much this. If you can get past the fact that it does indeed look a bit cartoonish, it's not so bad...well, except for the excessive level scaling...which is that bad. Fortunately (at least for pc) this can be rectified with mods.

What was wrong with the level scaling? In Oblivion I stayed on the main road for the most part only to go on side trails IF I had to out of fear of being killed by something.Morrowind was the same way, I would ALWAYS get killed if I decided to explore a little but in Skyrim I walk around like I on the joint, there's nothing out there to put me in my place. Kind of wish it was a little more like the way Morrowind was :D

Started with Morrowind, still actively play it. Got Oblivion at release.

Skyrim is my third TES game, although i have played a little Daggerfall, just not enough for it to be counted.

ARENA was my first Elder Scrolls rpg i purchased for my first Intel pc way back in 1994. Before then it was gaming on my dearly departed Commodore Amiga 500.

I still remember the creepy feeling of dread when i came across a hulking brutish giant in one of the dungeons in ARENA. Then there was the very grim mature ambience of the world as i talked to my first prosttute on a cold dreary rainy day. I actually felt sorry for her thinking of how she might end up dying from pneuamonia. Then there was the hugeness of the world which made me feel like i was all alone to survive as best i could on my own. Finding out the buetiful female apparition at the start of the game was actually dead was also another senses reeling shocker.

This definitely wasnt some happy happy fairy tale reality i had stumbled upon. For a horror movie fan i was beyond happy at this realisation :D

Arena, Daggerfall (bugged out could never finish it, but still played it for hundreds of hours), Battlespire, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. I never played Redguard or the phone apps.
Daggerfall, Morrowind, Redguard (didn't finish, too buggy on my PC), then Oblivion and Skyrim. I gave Arena a quick try after it was released for free, but I didn't have the patience.

I've said this before, but I got a hundred-ish hours into Daggerfall, and my saves got corrupted. I wrote this long, nasty email to BGS, and one of the devs (Julian?) asked me to send him the file. He fixed it and sent it back.

Morrowind first - my partner's brother gave it to me and said "play this"; I'd never heard of it before. I lost 3 months of my summer break between university semesters playing that game. Moved on to Daggerfall after that, but I couldn't really get into it. Then Oblivion, which I also struggled with. And now Skyrim, which I've enjoyed almost as much as Morrowind.

Very cool about the fixed saved file :D That happened to me once when i had gotten to the final part of the last quest in the crypt. This was after previously dying and not saving at the same spot.

Yes i think DAGGERFALL may be the one rpg next to the MIGHT AND MAGIC series (5-6-7-8-9) and FALLOUT 3 that i spent the most hours on playing late into the night. Probably because back then i didnt have the internet grabbing my attention like it has since 1998. I can imagine the mind boggling hours i would have put into MORROWIND and OBLIVION if not for these forums :D

I'm a little WOLS so Skyrim is my first intro to the world of TES. Kinda hilarious but I saw "fus ro dah" on some Youtube comments and was wondering what the heck that was. So I googled and amongst the results was Skyrim. I googled Skyrim and was impressed by the graphics so I searched Youtube for Skyrim gameplay and it wowed me so much that I bought it. That was like 6 months after its release so yeah, WOLS like I said.

I started with 'Arena' back 1994.. but really got into it with 'Daggerfall' (well, when it was patched cause at launch it was terrible) and I've continued to play on.. even got 'Redguard' and 'Battlespire' too

Oblivion was my first and favorite Elder Scrolls, then Skyrim. I plan on going back and trying Morrowind when I get my new PC.

I started with Morrowind back in 2002. And I′ve been playing since then, I still play Morrowind.
I played oblivion also, but it does not survived in my estimation and I cant go back to it even If I mod it to the ground.
Then, Skyrim.

Oblivion. It was the first game I bought when I got the PS3. I love the game, but haven't finished it. I haven't played it in a long time.
