Morrowind was my first. In fact, it was the first RPG that kept me interested to play through.
Then I played Oblivion and Skyrim. Sometime in between ES4 and ES5 I tried out Daggerfall, but while I was able to overlook the outdated graphics, I never managed to get used to the controls and stopped playing pretty soon.

A couple years ago a friend of mine referred me to Oblivion and the TES world... now, I can't thank him enough.

Oblivion was my first but I started it late. I was already playing games like Dragon Age and what not by then and it just didn't have a chance despite the differences between the two. But when I gave it some effort it was a year ago. Of course everything about it seemed very dated. I'd have to say though officially Skyrim is my first as I've played it through and through.

Morrowind was the first and I started casually, by pure fate. I bought a videocard back in 2003, dont remember the model. It came with 4 or 5 free games as promotion. One of them, The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind, I didnt knew what it was about, the cd had no description... so I Installed it to see what the hell was that.
And here Iam almost 10 years later. One (if not THE) of the bests games I EVER played.

Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game but I've had the chance to play Morrowind as well which I consider to be the best Elder Scrolls game to date.

Oblivion, Morrowind, Skyrim.

I spent 3 hours looking for a way to join House Telvanni and I somehow always end up back at Vivec City. It's weird, it's like the city is calling me.

Nope. First TES I played was Morrowind; was browsing at Wal-Mart for a game to get, and I saw Morrowind there for teh Xbox. I ahd heard it got good reviews, so I grabbed it. I got lost in my first game, but I slowly got the hang of it. Skyrim is probably my favorite TES, but Morrowind is a very close second due to the atmosphere and immersion I got playing Morrowind; Morrowind is probably the most immersive game I've played.

Order for me was Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. I need to see if Morrowind goes on sale during the holiday sales for Steam and get the GoTY edition if I can.

Kinda interesting, because I can surely understand the feelings that you had even though i didn't have them in Skyrim, I had them in Morrowind. Maybe it's true that your first TES is usually your favourite.

Oblivion was my first and I prefer Skyrim. Think it improved on TES IV in almost every way.

This is one of those things people like to repeat, but it's just not supported by fact. We took a survey in the Elder Scrolls Series Discussion forum a few months ago and the results of the survey showed the opposite. Those players who did not think their first TES game was the best outnumbered those players who did by more than two to one.

Morrowind was my first on PC with Tribunal and blood moon and old X-box
Oblivion on PC with no DLC or expansion, using mods but they broke it in the end.
Skyrim on X box 360 with first DLC.

I have really enjoyed all the games, with my current character playing a Dark brotherhood quest for the first time out of all three games.

It has definitely been a great year with Skyrim
I am really looking forward to the Dragonborn DLC and finally make it to Solsteim.

Morrowind was my first. I was gaming when Daggerfall came out, it just never came up on my radar for whatever reason. I think I was playing a lot of Ultima Online at the time. It's a bit hazy. In any case, I started with Morrowind and it's still my favorite by a HUGE margin. People suggested I go back and try Daggerfall. I did and couldn't get into it. It was too old. I don't have the haze of nostalgia to make it palatable. Oblivion was ok but not even in my top ten, and Skyrim is amazing and jusssst a hair below Morrowind.

Like most others here I fell in love with the series after playing Morrowind. I picked up the GOTY xbox version second hand at the local game store and when I got home and played it I'm sure my jaw was on the floor. That's when I really noticed the different approach that western and Japanese developers take to RPGs. Morrowind really opened my eyes to what RPGs could be like.

Oblivion was my first. Thankfully. It's easier to play it before playing the likes of Morrowind :P

It is impossible for there to be 26 votes for yes and 17 votes for other.

Yes. Skyrim is my first ES game. Lost count of how many times I have held Oblivion in my hand since 2007, in a game store, debating whether to buy it.

Never mind. I just need a cup of coffee to figure it out myself.
