Skyrims 5000th

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:03 am

With the advent of the 5,000th Thread upon this section of the forum, I generally would like to know the feelings of those who care to share about Skyrim.
anything really, do you enjoy talking about the game? have you decided to boycott the Skyrim section for a time? are you more excited for Skyrim than previous titles? have your views changed about the game thus far? I remember 2 months ago about how the wait was intolerable, some seemed on the edge of suicide because of the anticipated wait, have you died down and cooled off? does the current information qwell your hunger? are these the only forums you thread? yes or no really, no need to go into detail (I think thats a rule).

No polls

To me the forums have changed, once alit with polls brimming from the seems, and then came the GI updates with the fasted and largest accumulation of viewers on one thread I have ever seen, I do not remember Oblivion screaming with such hype. maybe there was and my memory svcks but boy oh boy its been a ride and we arent even near half way done >_>. I've high hopes for the game, and all in all this thread was to check the pulse of the forums and general mentality (which there is none beyond being associated with the game lol) think there will be Skyrim fans now? where the terminology of Morrowind Fans and Oblivion fans have become seperate factions, think Skyrim will be associated as such as well?

I've only known this game is coming out for about 3 weeks now... I'm currently in the 'thinking about freezing myself until Skyrim gets released' phase.

God... i hope this exitement fades or the wait will become intolerable...

I'm probably more exited about Skyrim than Oblivion because i know howmuch i loved Oblivion and Skyrim can only be better :).

I can remember the early days of Oblivion...I was involved with the Unique Landscapes Project back then...it was first called Unique Forests. It was quite busy, and I even took over as project manager for a while, even though I have no modding skill. It was beacause addiktive, the creator of the project, suddenly quit, and everyone was whining...somebody needed to take over. Phitt talked me into it. So it was pretty busy, for me at least.

That doesn't mean I have to make runs for mexican food at a moment's notice, does it?

Three times of various foods (Hamburgers, Mexican, and Pizza in that order) is enough.

Well, let's see... I literally let out a school-girl scream when Todd Howard was announced at the VGA's and became speechless when he unveiled the trailer. I've been a loyal subscriber to Game Informer for about five years now so I was really happy to see them get "exclusive rights" I've read the article probably a billion times, I've bookmarked all the individual hubdates and all the threads that have translated the international coverage. I've saved every image they've released to my computer and with every new piece of information my excitement builds. I dreamed that I bought Skyrim, just bought not played, for two nights in a row now.... and I come to this forum just about everyday.

From the information we have I think Skyrim will be the best Elder Scrolls game yet, and even if it is not I know I'll spend thousands of hours in it.

In short: I'm freaking excited and can't wait for more information.

Ah that reminds me of the South Park episode where Cartman froze himself trying to get the Wii.

We didn't really waste much time getting to 5000 huh? Well, next is 7000, and then 9001. Sounds easy enough to do in 9 months. :celebration:

As far as the original post, I'm interested, but not particularly excited.

This forum moves fast enough that it's entertaining, so I spend time here.

My views on the game have changed... I must say I'm increasingly interested, because it sounds more and more like there's an aim to add realism. I'm just nervous that we're going to end up with a combat system somewhat like Oblivion's "bash each other for 2 minutes until someone falls over", which would be horrendous. Hopeful though.

I'm a fan of the series, Daggerfall is probably my favorite video game of all time overall, but it's not my favorite series, so I'm probably not in the majority on here.

where the terminology of Morrowind Fans and Oblivion fans have become seperate factions, think Skyrim will be associated as such as well?

At this point, it's inevitable. It seems the state of the fanbase "shifts up" so to say whenever a new Elder Scrolls comes out.

As it is right now, there are Morrowind fans who want Skyrim to be better than Oblivion, and there are Oblivion fans who are fighting the Morrowind fan's claims and think that Skyrim will be amazing. After Skyrim releases, there is no doubt in my mind that SOME of the Oblivion fans will be disappointed with Skyrim, and they will stay hardcoe Oblivion fans, which will take the place of Morrowind fans. The Oblivion (and maybe some Morrowind) fans who liked Skyrim will form the new Skyrim fans, who will defend it against the Oblivion fans attacks constantly.

As for the Morrowind fans that remain, they will go the way of the Daggerfall fans. Lurking in the shadows and occasionally posting about how great Morrowind was compared to the others, even though others barely listen because they're too concerned with Oblivion or Skyrim.

Then, the cycle repeats for the next game.

It excrutiating! The wait is intolerable! I've done everything to get rith of the overly induced anticipation. I can't wait untill the clock strikes 11:11 am at the 11th of November 2011. I'll be stoked and I'll have the game placed deeply into my hands. I'll play Skyrim hardcoe for 48 hours and then I'll be cured from this utter pain!

Just kidding, but I'm exited!

Wait until the game is released and majority here have it. ;)

Flood overload here which could result to "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim section is down for maintenance, we will be back momentarily"

I probably would have not been so interested in ES games if Phitt had not talked me into taking over UL for awhile. Believe it or not, they still use some of the format that I created for the OP.

The only sensible thing to do is to get pregnant and try to time your maternity leave for November...

So, if all the boys could line u.....
