skyrims' supermonsters

Underwater is an area that has been long ignored by Bethesda. I'm hoping that in Skyrim there has been major improvements in this area. I don't want to be able to swim as fast as we can in Oblivion and I think the amount of gear you are carrying should factor into whether you can swim at all. I want there to be some kind of contraption, for lack of a better term, much like a submarine that will allow us to dive deep in the sea.

yes, i agree that bethesda has ignored underwater for far too long, skyrim should be a new start for more underwater quest, and water creatures, or to put it in better terms, water shouldnt just be an alternate terrain to go through, it should be a whole new world, a whole new adventure, where we dont necessarily have the advantage so we have to think about it twice before stepping in.

OB was definitely a step backwards from Morrowind in terms of underwater exploration, but it was justified to a point given the geography. Morrowind was fun finding grotos, finding ship wrecks and sunken treasure, battling dreugh, etc. In one of the screen shots on the official site you can see some underwater vegitation in a lake, which is already a stop forward from OB, where it was like a total desert underwater most of the time. Would like to see the coastal areas in Skyrim really fleshed out with underwater vegitation, sunken ships, underwater caves, a wider variety of sea creatures, etc. I think an animal like a polar bear that could enter and move around in the water effectively is a possibility. Some mythical sea creatures would be great. And how about more passive sea life just for ambiance? Why does everything need to be a there just to attack you. How about some non-violent species of fish, turtle-like creatures, seals, etc.

very nicely put, and i do agree that there should be more passive creatures in the elder scrolls games, like the deer, or maybe we will be able to do some fishing this time around.

Definitely a kraken many people would be sad myself included if they didn't make one, and if possible other huge creatures as well. Also just to give it more immersion/make it more scary give the giant sea creature a huge splash effect. It would also be cool though I'm not sure if a realistic goal, if the splash could move the player a bit. Not the water itself just a big splash of water, with the sound large masses of water makes. I just hope the game cells wouldn't struggle with such a creature.

There should definitely be things on land and in the water which you have to keep an eye out for.

I remember downloading a T-Rex mod for oblivion - awesomeness. I came across one who was deeply embroiled in combat with a ringwraith, lawl. Queue ensuing Chaos, booya.
