I had a similar thing happening to me with black patches and pale patches. I went to the barber and changed my facial hair and the model snapped back to how it should be. I haven't seen the issue again yet.

I've heard anecdotally that the current video drivers don't address SLI well. I'm on a single GTX 770 4GB VRAM with a 3770K and its very smooth. I am normally a SLI-guy, a big proponent of it actually, but couldn't afford a second card so I just went with what I had. If you're having anomolies try disabling SLI if you have decent video card. It might be causing more problems than it's solving at this time.
