Slide, not SMART?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 8:24 am

Just to clear something up I got stuck in my head.

So this SMART button allows us to run, run into and object and perform an action.

OR

is sprinting something entirely different?

Complication though...Sliding must be another button push, cus what keeps us from sliding when were trying to run or do Parkour?

So, sliding must be one button and if SMART isn't sprinting...now we have three buttons for advanced movement.

Or am I just a boob and missing all this in the bible which admittedly I should have consulted before writing this but here we are.

EDIT..what a stupidly random Post. Its all over the board and poorly written. Maybe I should try this coffee stuff after all. :P

from what ive heard and seen SMART and sprint are the same button, for xbox i believe its LB for now (which i hope i can change). So when you sprint into an object SMART takes over and u vault. For sliding idk, i believe it has a seperate button, as does jump. But if you sprint towards a rail and aim low u will automatically slide tho.

I don't believe the SMART button will be used for sprinting, isnt there a sprint button like most games (click left stick down for example)?

How I think sliding will work is you use the sprint button then crouch when you're running, like crysis 2, to slide. You do raise a good point though, hopefully we get to see the control scheme soon so things will make sense!
Would be a pain imo if its based on how we are looking (so look downwards towards object to slide, look upwards to climb over).

edit - Oh I was a bit slow, what Dingle posted above does make sense i guess.

I'm pretty sure the SMART Button, and sprint button are the same, and if you want to perform a slide all you have to do is hit crouch while you are running.

Sprint and SMART butto are the same, you hold down the button to engage SMART. to sprint you click. To slide using SMART you have to look down at an object that can be slid under and it takes over.

You can manually slide by sprinting and hitting the crouch button (or holding onto SMART button and hitting crouch to slide manually) the other buttons, jump and crouch can initiate the SMART maneuvers manually which enables you to do them faster

From part 4 on the bible.

Default Xbox 360 controls:

RT = shoot

LT = aim

LB = sprint/SMART

RB = grenade

X = action/use (give ammo, give health, interact, etc.)

B = crouch

Y = switch weapons

A = jump

LS = buff self (give self ammo, health, etc.)

RS = melee

Up = Objective wheel

Left, Right, Down = class abilities

So for manually sliding i would put my money hitting crouch while sprinting.

it was said in video that things like sliding and wall bouncing aren't in smart ,smart just clears obstacles it's not a miracle tool it won't slide towards enemies you or wall bounce or anything like that it doesn't even jump i don't think ,just mantle and wall runs which you will be able to do faster if you do it manually. (it'll only slide you under obstacles)

It will vault you over objects, but won't slide towards enemies.
You have to do that yourself by sprinting and pressing crouch. However, it will slide you under obstacles, such as a small table.

The controls are entirely customisable.

Also there are presets for Call of Duty ("Duty Calls"), Halo ("Green Chief"), Battlefield ("Field of Battle") and other games.

Yup one more reason that Brink is awesome, not that we need more to convince most of us.

I think SMART is going to work like in Assassin's Creed. You hold down the run button to climb up a wall, and the jump button is separate. It'll all be in the tutorial anyway.
