Slight Graphics overhaul mod needed

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:28 am

So i want to upgrade the graphics in my morrowind but, but my computer can't handle the massive "2011 morrowind" mods, is there one out there that won't completely destroy my computer? my graphics card is up to like 64mb of Dedicated memory on the card, so can someone send me a link to a graphics mod that will better the graphics but not over due it? i've looked but all i find is the big ones... thanks in advance.

What kind of things would you like to improve? Textures? Draw distance? Post effects?

Knowing what you'd like to change then ought to be able to give some ideas. :)

Better Bodies shouldn't be a problem at least. If you aren't already using it.

Connary's textures. Darknut's textures. Better Bodies. Vvardenfell Visages. These meshes: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1368397-list-a-smooth-well-placed-hd-uv-correct-morrowind/

MGE XE has a massive performance hit, especially if you have distant land, reflective water, shadows, etc. But you should be able to install most texture and mesh improvements without too much of a performance hit.

If you have any decent amount of ram, textures will typically not hurt your performance.

MGSO has alternatives for older and/or slower computers. KINGPIX was very careful to accommodate most people's setups. He's even included several different versions of MGE so even if your machine won't run the latest, there is still a stable version for you.

Consider yourself lucky the 2011 Overhaul was "too much" for your computer.

Honestly I wouldn't get the Better bodies mods if I were you . They seem way to bulky.

Connary's textures make a good base to build on.
Mixed textures is worth a look. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7492
Check out Vurts work also. Tree models and sky textures in particular. They're available on PES and Nexus.

Head models you'll be spoilt for choice, just depends what kind of a feel you want. If you're looking for really well detailed ones have a look on here for Mels head packs. If you want to freak her out ask for some better eyes versions of what she's done! :D

For clothing Canadian Ice is worth a look.

This is just off the top of my head.

During installation, you'll have choices and KINGPIX put in a sort of guide to help you choose what is most likely to give you the best performance for your machine.

Let's just say there is little useful technical support for that compilation. If you want to know more, we'll have to discuss it in PMs, because discussion of that compilation in open forums is a moderation-worthy offense.

Mainly because in general, people have trouble reading the instructions. The installer takes you thought it step-by-step, but you do have to have certain prerequisites in order to run MGE, which comes with MGSO. Most of the people who have had problems didn't have the prerequisites and, as a result, couldn't have run MGE even without MGSO. It isn't complicated at all, but KINGPIX is currently working on an even more "fool-proof" installer.
