Sload language.

How common is it for people to be fluent in Sload-language? I need to know whether, in my mod, Aryon should be annotating N'Gasta! Kvata! Kvakis! or translating it.

No idea. N'Gasta... is a quite common book, so many scholars must be familiar with the language. However, people who aren't dealing with Sloads or with necromancy have no real reason to study it, so you could say it's mostly restricted to merchants of House Dres and wizards dabbling in forbidden arts.

I'd just go with "extremely rare"; it'd be one thing to know bits about the language, but to be fluent? I think that's a stretch, or we'd already have translated copies of that book floating around. Since there is (presumably) such little contact with the Sload race, I'd say that unless you're making him the (only) foremost authority on the Sload language (in other words, perhaps one of three people in all Tamriel who can understand it), it seems a bit farfetched to me. Just my thoughts. :)

Ehh, the only sload you met in the series spoke english and his books were in english. Chances are if the Sload make a reappearance, they'll all speak english too. After Daggerfall you didn't need to know the language to speak with Daedra or Orcs either. Things get easier.

All right, that was the answer I was looking for. Translating it is.

Yeah, but isn't that just a cheap cop-out by the game designers? Then again, cheap cop-outs can constitute lore, so maybe the Sload speak the same language as Imperials! I do wish there was more of a language barrier. I'd love to have to carry around a "translation guide" or something to make sense of Orcs/Daedra/Sload. :)

You say that as if that's not common at all.

Yeah, it's a cop-out. It is in a real world language called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esperanto. I remember it translating into some pamphlet or something about frogs (I am probably wrong, but it is something along those ridiculous lines).

IIRC when it is translated it is somewhat similar to N'Gasta! Kvata! Kvakis!. However, I'm not positive on that.

A sload who's poking his nose on Tamriel and delaing with (and in...) the locals will probably learn cyrodillic, as it's the de facto common anguage in the Empire. It's difficult to buy corpses, slaves or anyhting else if the locals can't understand you.

I am aware of this, and have put a reference to it in my mod.

N′gasta! Kvaka! Kvakis translation: Kva! Kvak! (also called Kvako) is the newsletter (or something similar) of the 'La Ranetoj' (the small frogs). It is send to paying members and other individuals who, in some way, are involved in la Ranetoj's activities. In it there firstly is information about the locations of the monthly meetings, but of course also concerning the latest activities of the club. Sometimes it also includes other educating or entertaining material.

The internet-based Kvako (e-mail and web versions) are on the one hand another distribution channel for the contents of the paper version. But on the other hand, not surprisingly, the contents of the different versions connot and even must not always be 100 percent the same. For instance, in little circulating paper versions you can publish illustrations that for copyright reasons connot be used on the internet. Yet on the other hand the low costs oft the internet version lift the space limits and allow more content, not to mention being always to date.

These circumstances influence the web-based Kvako, which will also serve as the general homepage of the 'La Ranetoj'.

Lolwut?
