sload

Read the post i qouted, tear is a city in morrowind tyhat has connections with the sload, they supply the necros with slaves(Which later are turned into corpses for necromatical(Is that even a word?) purposes.

With the ban on slavery they no longer have acess to the bodies, i was suggesting that mabye they should send another plague to tamreil so that there is an abundance of bodies that the elves need to get rid of, not only will the sload take the bodies off the Dunmers hands but they'll even pay for it.

Everyones wins.

Except the people that died of course. :D

If the Sload released another plague on Tamriel, what makes you think anyone, elves or not, would make any sort of deal with them? Tamriel would rise up and try to make the Sload extinct this time around. That being said, I don't think that they would ever release another plague like the Thrassian.

I think the Sload and the Maormer are in a similar predicament. Namely, they'll never appear again except as rare, pivotal characters since they stuck their collective necks out and promptly were relieved of their heads. They may want to come back but they never will get to -- aside from one or two who do a REALLY nice job of hiding.

On that note, what do we know about the Maormer? They've never even showed up in a game yet, have they?

the only real thing in-game of the maormer is king orgnum's coffer, an artifact in arena which was the source of king orgnum's infinite wealth. after he lost it in the last invasion of summerset isle, he and his people haven't been seen since. no one ventures there since the island is thick in vegetation and there are lots of sea serpents in route.

they're only really mentioned in the wolf queen books.

So we only have The Wolf Queen and The Pocket Guide to go off of for Maormer. That's really a shame.

http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/corpse_preparation.shtml mentions Sload airships. Just something that I thought should be mentioned.

Edit: Nevermind, already said. Still, you don't see a lot of airships in Tamriel these days.

it will be greatly reduced. the ban just isn't imperial law anymore which didn't apply to morrowind, it's an edict from king helseth, and with the alliance of hlaalu and dren, the main source of slaves will dry up. also not many are that willing to cross helseth and his men.

sure there'll still be slaves around, and ways to get slaves, but it's no longer an open market, and the sload aren't going to bother with it, and just get bodies other easier ways.

i'd thought the telvanni would be interested with the sload, but they aren't.

Of course the use of slaves won't stop. Their whole nation is built upon the back of free labour! Dres even has slave trade as one of their main incomes - do you think their slave traders will just retire to their haciendas on the great Pampas and slowly watch their coffers' content diminish?
The only thing that will happen is that the slaves won't be called "slaves" any more. Serf, helot, villein, what ever. It doesn't change the fact that they will still be breaking their backs for little or no pay. In fact, Dres and Hlaalu would probably welcome a change from slavery into serfdom, because that would mean that they would not have to buy food or clothe or provide housing for their "workers" any more, as the serves would have to grow their own food and tend to their own house, while still being required to spend most of their time at their "contracter's" fields. Think of the money they would money they would save!

As for the Sload and the necro-trade; do you really think it not being an "open market" would matter at all to a Sload? They don't care about Dunmeri, or Imperial, laws. They just want their bodies. And as they no doubt would be willing to pay a lot, there will always be people ready and eager to get those bodies for them.

edit: oh yeah, that was one good rant :foodndrink:
