No, it doesn't, it's working fine with existing saves.

As stated above, it should work fine with existing saves and there have been no reports to the contrary.

At the minute im using the 'Slow levelling' version, as the 'Slower Levelling' version is really for the future when mods come out to expand the game content a bit more (respawning dungeons, more enemies, more quests etc etc).

Thanks for the mod!

My 2nd character reached 20th with a good portion - a lot (!) really left, nearly 1/2 the map, and main quest not completed. I have to admit not being able to level took a lot of the zest out of it for me. Encounters became tedious rather than thrilling, as I knew my character could no longer progress, never become better at what she was.

I'm hoping the new mod will at least allow me to cover more of the map this time, as she works more slowly towards reaching that pinnacle.

thanks for the replies. i tend to glance over instead of scan thoroughly sometimes. also, since i was stupid enough to go 2 levels into the bonus xp perks, i think i'll need the slower leveling version. really... was there a need to consolify this game to such an extreme? the console players will play it for a while and get bored, then move on when the next uber leet pwn game comes out. PC players keep the game alive for years. i STILL haven't finished the main quest for OBV and i got it when it came out.

Some praise and a question I also wrote on fallout3nexus:

"Enjoying this one! Very nice!

A question just in case, please:

Does this mod in anyway have any effect on damage taken or dealt (like the difficulty settings)? I assume not, but I found some files I didnt quite understand when using the fomm plugin editor on the mod. Its the first six files or so - those with out xpreward in their name. Could you explain please what those do and how you changed them?

Thanks in advance!"

So is this mod compatible with the Level Cap Increaser mod (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=121)?

Great work btw! I cant wait to see all the mods that will be released once the construction set is released (well, if its released...)

EDIT: Woops, just noticed on the first page that these two mods are compatible.. Ignore this post!

Multipliers. XP multipliers. For instance on very hard difficulty setting on normal game ( without this mod) you would get 3x the XP you would get with this mod for killing experience. With this mod you get 3 times less so say 5xp for a very hard kill compared to 15xp on a normal game without this mod installed.

About to upload a new version in a minute that gets rid of some 'ghost' records that shouldnt be there. Just in case they interfere with any future mods that come out, as of now I dont think they interfere, but better safe than sorry.

TBH, the pace mod doesn't change walk speed or radiation anymore since v03. those changes are moved to the balance mod.

Also the better pace mod does not touch the xpbump value. It rather manually reduces XP from certain things (like killing, hacking, picking) so that the balance of XP gain is changed.

With the Pace mod most of your XP comes from quests.
With the slow levelling mod most of ur xp still comes from killing stuff. small distinction but one that i find important for myself :)

Thanks for the clarification on the updated pace mod :)

I would always strongly recommend anyone to try both mods to see which suits them better. As ive said before this one was primarily designed for future when mods come out to increase enemies and respawning 'instances'. Its a bit of a stop-gap till then and I will always concede that these things are new to me (gmst etc etc blah blah hehe) and my main modding experience is and will always be texturing.

I would actively encourage anyone with more knowledge than myself (read anyone :P ) to use this mod as a base to tweak values, add things whatever. Its a base mod as far as im concerned, and in no way do I claim to have total knowledge of all the workings of hex coding. However the mod works and does 'exactly what it says on the tin' for now.

EDIT
Edited first post to remove now reduntant info about Better Pace Mod.

Hi Koldorn,

Just noticed that Slow leveling.esp (version 1.2, newest) has quite an old date and contains more references than slower leveling (1.2). Is this intentional or did some change slip by concerning slow leveling.esp?

Thanks for checking that out.

Great mod.
But I dont think it is ready to go with the level cap increase MOD.

Using both mods, the level requirements become insane after the lvl 20. For instance, with the slow one it takes pretty around 10k XP points to go from 20 to 21. In around 40 hours of game I have lvl 20 and around 30k XP points.

Is it correct?

First of all, thank you Koldorn for releasing this mod. :)

I have a question, though. If I use your "Slower Levelling" .esp file, will I be able to reach level twenty in the game? I only ask because of your post earlier where you said that this mod is primarily for the future when modders have increased respawn rates and everything. I definitely want to level slowly, but I do want to reach level twenty eventually.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Your absolutely right, this was my mistake and it has been fixed and reuploaded in version 1.3 which is now up at nexus. Also I have removed the stunt on XP from hard and very hard kills, they now scale up accordingly and you will gain more XP from killing hard and very hard encounters. This also should encourage people to play on the very hard difficulty as you gain more experience this way in combat.

@ Dremora King - Yes if you play on very hard difficulty with the latest version of mod (one i just uploaded) you will reach level 20.

I apologise for my oversight in the earlier release folks, the 'Slow Levelling.esp' is now fixed and working as intended.

Okay, a bit confuzzled. Need some clarification and enlightenment:

1. So are there one or two files now? I use "Slow Leveling" - I wanted a slowdown in XP but decided to use that one as it's the "middle ground" in severity.
If there's only one file, you just decide to set an arbitrary percentage and go with that only?

2. Your link only points to "Slower Leveling", and it's version 1.4 (not 1.3). It's "Slow Leveling" I'm looking for, but the search engine on Nexus seems to have problems . . . . or that might be the only file now.

There are both ESP in the archive. But never use them both, only one.

Updated to (hopefully final) version 1.5

Downloads are now seperate to avoid any confusion. Included an even slower levelling version for future when mods come out to expand the interactable game world. Its not recommended for use right now, I use 'Slower levelling.esp' myself and would recommend that but the 'Slow Levelling.esp' is a good start if your only looking for a small extension of game life for your current char.

Compatible with existing saves.

Awesome mod, making the game much more enjoyable for longer periods.

Do I place the XLeveling *folder* in the data folder or just the .esp file?

Place the .esp into Data and then follow the read-mes instructions for enabling it (FO3's system is somewhat buggy)

Thank you very much for the fast creation the new versions, Koldorn! Very nice!

A question (or two) concerning the xp change for hard and very hard, please:

I play on very hard and use slow leveling (ibump to 225). With the new version of slow leveling (with the xp increase for kills on hard and very hard) I get 12 xp for killing a mirelurker (with my lvl 4 Char). When totally disabling the mod I get 15 xp (of course on very hard, too). So the difference is 20% decrease in xp gain (12 instead of 15). Is this rather small effect intended? Of course its only part of the overall effect as xp needed for the next level is increased by roundaoubt 150%. Still, I thought you would aim for a 66% decrease?

The percentage of the decrease is rather irrelevant to me, it's the end result that counts: A game that let's an explorer type reach level 20 not before reaching the final 10% to 20% of the game (I use level cap increase, just in case btw). Explorer for me means not monotonously grinding all monsters in the waste and turning every stone. But it includes doing almost all side quests and many curious strolls and explorations through the area. Hard to describe ;). So, should I stick to slow leveling or change to slower leveling (now that xp gain for kills is signifcantly increased)?
