[RELz] Slower Levelling

Maybe you didn't replace the ESP with the new version. I'm using Slower Leveling and have no problems with getting 1Exp for roaches or flies.

Has anyone here tried the slower levling mod and played the game on normal difficulty?

My girlfriend is playing on Normal, and I'm about to start my game on hard or very hard. I'm worried that since she is using slower and playing on normal she will not get to 20. Anyone have any experience with this?

Secondeal

I play on normal diff with my mod (XPbase bump- 275, lvl cap 25, base skill points per lvl 9) works like a charm for me. It's on Nexus if anyone is interested in it.

Just folks need to be aware that the level cap mods CAN break your game under certain circumstances.

Cool.

I was doing side quests in the bottom half of the map, also exploring DC and ended up being level 17 and I hadn't started the Main Quest yet, so it kind of svcked to have to
rush to finish the game with only three levels left, and leaving an entire top half of the map unexplored, with side quests that I must've missed because of that.

What circumstances? I'm just curious what the potential catches are in slowing down the levelling as I'm just about to start a new character and I'd hate to end up being stuck at level 18 forever or finding all the locks out of my reach :brokencomputer:

No problems with slower leveling, the problems are with the level cap changers.

With Mods that change the level cap, some karma levels will cause a CTD when you get to lvl 21+. Very Evil is one that I know of, may be others. Also, at level 21+ your Karma Title is reset to Vault Dweller. I'm not sure if there are any game breaking bugs with that though.

in the read me:
IF YOUR CHARACTER IS EVIL UPON REACHING LEVEL 21, YOUR GAME WILL CRASH.
EITHER ADJUST YOUR KARMA UPWARD BEFORE LEVELING, THEN ADJUST IT BACK DOWN AFTER, OR TRY DOING SOME GOOD FOR A CHANGE.
so if playing whit 'good karma' ..can they work together?

You can use it with a cap raiser, just be aware of the bugs we can't fix until we get the tool kit.

Hi, I tried your mod and did a little trick...

I used the console cheat player.setlevel 19
to see how much xp is needed to reach level 20 and it's not as slow as everyone may think.

XP NEEDED FOR LEVEL 20 :
------------------------
vanilla : 29450
Koldorn's slow levelling : 42275 (1,43 slower)
Koldorn's slower levelling : 55100 (1.87x slower)
Koldorn's very slow levelling : 63650 (2,16x slower)
Xodarap777 XFO_Pacing_high_(slowest) : 72200 (2,45x slower)

my first character savegame is : Save 116 - Salma Hayek, Launch Control Bunker, 103.33.48.fos
I played from the start on very hard and I was level 20 after or 70-80 hours and now I stopped playing while I still had things to do in the game.
I now started a character with very slow levelling and my hope is to delay the levelling enough that I will be able to enjoy the full game without hitting or barely lvl20.

I currently don't believe in balancing mods, the game is pretty good from the start and the current attempts are ruining the game more than enhancing it, but hey I only play fallout 3 5-8 hours a day I really wouldn't know ;)

Thank you very much for the stats, its probably something I should have thought to have done myself hehe. I can see room in the future for a 'very very slow' variant when quest mods etc come out. Im currently not even level 9 playing on 'SLower Levelling' and havent even started main quest past the megaton stage. So I can definately see a place for an even slower one for folks like me who wish to try to explore everything.

Once more thanks again for the input its greatly appreciated.

NEW version up 'Extremely Slow Levelling'! as requested.

Comes in both a normal and LITE version. All normal versions reduce experience gaining activities (combat, lockpicking etc) aswell as increasing amount of experience to level. All LITE versions only touch amount of XP needed to level, no reductions in gaining XP.

Some small tweaks to the lower variants are coming when I get chance also. Nothing major just small tweaks to break inconsistencies.

Can you apply this mod to already-started save games, or do you need to restart a char?

It's totally fine to stick it into an already started game. It won't mess up a thing.

Thanks for this new version!
I have been using the 'very slow levelling' on very hard mode for a while now, but I think I'll switch to this new one since I'm using a one day respawn mod and I do so much killing.

The only possible complaint I have with the game is that I seem to level awful fast. I'm level 14 and I've barely played 50 hours. With ESIV I stopped playing (to play FO3) after 300+ hours and was a level 17.

Doesn't seem to be an issue now, but I've only just now pushed the main quest to GNR Radio. Don't know what it will mean when I hit 20 and spend another 20 - 30 hours of exploring/main quest.

Have in mind that the full version mod not only increases the XP needed to reach lvl 20, it also reduces the XP given by most ingame actions, so it may take you more than 70-80 hours to reach Salma :D

In particular the 2 slowest versions actually decrease progress even more (extra tweaks over their faster counterparts). Ive actually switched over to 'Very Slow Levelling' from 'Slower Levelling' at level 9 because my progress was too quick for my liking. I would definately recommend 'Very Slow Levelling' as a starting mod to anyone who likes to explore every inch of map and do all quests they come accross. As I said I switched over to it from the normal 'Slower' version at level 9 without even doing any of the main quest and quite alot of the map unexplored, it seemed the right thing to switch over to.

When the time comes and content mods start to appear (come on with CS beth please!) then I'll definately be using 'Extremely Slow Levelling' for sure.

In the end Koldorn, which mod makes the player level faster ? Slower leveling or Slower leveling Lite ? And which one would you recommend for someone who'll play on normal and want to reach level 20 one day ? (Because I hear there's no monsters respawning)

When I release the mod I'm working on now, I fully intend to recommend the use of both a slower leveling mod, and a difficulty mod. The game is far too short and easy right now to add extra content and think the player will get to see/experience it all.

I've been using these mods (first Slow and now Slower) to great satisfaction, though I've discovered a bit of a problem with it just recently. It seems that several NPCs give an XP reward that correspond to the default values, yet using "getgamesetting" via the console confirms the mod is taking effect. Let me explain further; I was on my way to Rivet City for the first time and stepped out of the metro to find a Talon Company camp waiting to ambush me. I got a sneak attack with a few nuka-grenades on them and this netted me 150 xp (on hard, so XPH set to 1.00). I reloaded and took them out one at a time and this gave 50 xp apiece. I ran over to the bridge to go to the city and found Doc Hoff so I killed him just to see if what was going on was a one-time thing, and I got 50 again from him. Later on, I found another Talon Company group and they too were worth 50 each while all the other random encounters with enemies matched up with the values the mod sets. I was level 10 on both occasions.

To make this all even stranger, some Talon mercs give me 30 xp, which correspond neither to any of these mod settings or to the game's default values. Anyone else experience this at all, and if so any clue as to how this might be fixed? If these values were set by the developers when hand-placing these NPCs/enemies, though, I don't see any fix until the G.E.C.K. is released.

I've noticed this issue as well. I play on Very Hard mode with the 'Extremely Slow Levelling' .esp and have noticed that I occasionally get 55 xp from Talon Mercs. I don't find it to be terribly bothersome though, as my rate of levelling is still pretty slow, and I'm not constantly fighting Talon Mercs.

I used FOMM to check it but now im not usre if the mod is on or not i have seen refrences to getGS and a mod.txt what i would like is a way to verify that the mod has been turned on. Buti can not find any mod.txt and do not know the varible for getgs. Am i missing some steps using FOMM beisdes opening it up checking the mod and pressing the X?
