[RELz] Slower Levelling

SLOWER LEVELLING versions
-------------------------------

With this mod you need more XP to gain levels. So you level up much slower, giving the freedom to play slowly and not hit the level cap for a long time.
There is also no bonus to XP gained from playing on Hard or V Hard, along with many other XP decreasing tweaks (combat, hacking, disarming mines etc etc).
Discovery XP has been increased though to promote exploration and finding more areas to gain XP in and XP increasing opportunities.

This mod only touches XP values, nothing else so is safe to use with any mod other than those that deal with XP. Just load this mod after those to make this mod override them.

Update:
This mod is now totally made within the GECK, so should be no problems. Also increased types of versions to futureproof the mod (and as requested by some folks), as time goes on more and more mods will come that increase the amount of combat and XP increasing opportunities (MMMF3 for example), thus mods that slow levelling will be more of a requirement to some people. This mod now gives lots of choice as to just how slow you want your level ups to be.

To install:

Place ONE esp in your 'Fallout3/Data' folder. ONLY use one at a time, you can change them at any time however and are compatible with existing saves.

Launch with launcher and tick new esp under Fallout3.esm. Or use a load order programme like FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager by Timeslip).

UPDATE:
Difference between the mods. The only difference is all use different iXPbumpbase values, all other tweaks are the same accross all mods (except LITE versions they only touch the values listed below). Here is a quick rundown of the stat in question:

Super Duper Extreme - iXPbumpbase 600
Super Duper Slow ---- iXPbumpbase 525
Extremely Slow ------ iXPbumpbase 450
Very Slow ----------- iXPbumpbase 375
Slower -------------- iXPbumpbase 300
Slow ---------------- iXPbumpbase 225
normal game ------ iXPbumpbase 150

So Slower Levelling version requires twice as much XP to advance a level etc.

Slower Levelling LITE versions
---------------------------------
The only attribute touched in LITE version is amount of XP required to advance levels. No decrease in XP gained, just increase in XP required to level up. See above chart for values (ixpbumpbase).

If you only want changes made to your XP gains then yes. This mod only touches XP nothing else. No changes to walk speed or radiation stuff, only XP. If thats what your after then yes delete any other XP mods and only use this one.

Koldorn, you rock. I loved all your Oblivion texture mods, so I'll definitely try this one out, too! Thank you!

yes thank you very much for this! :) Im just starting the game today and this seems to be a good change. I really like the idea to explore every pixel of the map before finishing the MQ, so i dont want to be punished for that through reaching the level cap way too early. Good work!

First off this is based on 'The Better Pace Mod' by TheMandrake (http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=901886)

However unlike that mod this one only touches levelling stats and not walking speed or radiation level stuff or anything else. Also this mod increases the amount of XP required to advance levels aswell as reducing the amount of XP gained from normal gaming activities like combat and lockpicking etc etc.

End result is, you need more XP to gain levels and also get less XP than a normal game for combat kills and other things. So you level up much much slower, giving the freedom to play slowly and not hit the level cap for a long time.

EXCELLENT. I actually avoided the other Mod cos I didn`t want the walking speed messed about with. I was happy with it. I like Mods that do just what the title says and no more.

Thankyou.

I dont get why everyones waiting for some other guy to delete 1 record out of the esp of another guy :P Its ridicilously easy to do yourself with fomm. U can even change the values for the xp gains and other values to suit your own taste. Just giving an advice to make your own esps.

@TC

Thank you....!!

I was dreading the last 10 levels....I'm only 1/20th of the way done and level 10 and feared I would need to stop doing quests, opening locks, hacking etc because every little bit of exp was adding up too quick.

Now I can kick back and explore....which is one of the main reasons I bought the game...

I'll still be level 20 when the game ends....but now not level 20 half way through....

Thank you again....!!!

by what %, in the end (less from daily things +more needed for level) do you think it slows leveling up?

Agreed. I've never much cared for "everything plus the kitchen sink" mods that make one change I like and ten changes I don't.

UPDATE - Added a secondary esp file to download.

Difference between the mods Slower levelling and Slow levelling. Both use different iXPbumplevel values. Everything else is the same apart from this one attribute. Here is a quick rundown of the stat in question:

Slower levelling - iXPbumplevel 300
Slow levelling - iXPbumplevel 225
normal game - iXPbumplevel 150

So Slower Levelling.esp requires twice as much XP for level gains (amount of XP required to get from one level to the level above) as normal game and 'Slow Levelling.esp' is a middle ground. BOTH files have the other XP tweaks where you get much less XP for all your actions.
Pick which esp you want to use and use ONLY that one.

Koldorn,

first off, I want to say thanks for this mod. It achieves it's goal without changing anything else, and works exactly as advertised.

However, I just looked through the GMST entries in TESsnip and noticed you've included the iLevelUpSkillPointsBase and iLevelUpSkillPointsInterval at the default settings. Since theses have been left at default settings, I'd recommend getting rid of them. As it stands, the iLevelUpSkillBase setting from this mod will override that from http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=903262&hl=, unless my mod is loaded later.

Thanks again for the mod,
Nick

To increase level cap to 30 or 40 (30 recommended) there is a new mod out http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=121. Works fine with this mod.

Can I check if the mod works ingame, with a getGS or something? GetGS iXPbumplevel doesn't seem to work...

Edit: Geez, wait, figured it out. ^_^

heh. sweet! i used the slow leveling mod last night and it definitely felt more natural at level 10 to not shoot all the damn way up the slider every time i disarm a mine. now we get a level-cap mod? damn, you guys work fast! keep up the brilliant work! :foodndrink:

I'd love something like this but I'm on xbox. So far it's the biggest of a very small list of very small gripes.

I, err... don't suppose it's possible to mod xbox games is it? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I don't know much about them.

Dream on. No mods for XBox360 or PS3, MS and Sony won't cooperate with modders.
