Small Geographical-ish Question

As part of several projects, new and ongoing, I have a family of Khajiit that came from Skyrim originally. I never had to address this before, but I'm now attempting to actually play a member of this family in Skyrim and need to figure out exactly where they'd be from geographically so I know where to start my adventure on the map. Looking at the ingame map and other maps have led me to very few solid possibilities. I was hoping to perhaps call for some assistance; if I can I'd like to avoid inventing an area.

The criteria for this location would (ideally) be a semi-isolated place that falls within the northern Skyrim region that allows a decent sized tribe of Khajiit to live and sustain themselves within it and its immediate surrounding area. Hard to stumble upon, but not difficult to leave if need be as they send people out on rites of passage now and then into the greater Skyrim region.

The trick here, as there are a number of areas that fit this bill in-game, is to find one that doesn't actually have anything there already that I could accidentally visit and shatter the illusion.

If not, I'll resign myself to inventing something off the map border (in the 'misted' areas of the game map that tell you 'You Can't Go There'). But if so, you get hugs and eternal gratitude.*

*Hugs and gratitude redeemable only at participating locations and do not have cash value. Offer valid until 4E 260 while supplies last. Terms and conditions apply.
