The lunchboxes. I can't stop collecting them even on DiD characters!

I like how even in the wilderness there is always a place somewhere with a little story to it and a few containers hidden for you to loot. You just never get bored. If you just go in one direction without a mission, there is always something interesting to find.

Oh and that flirting Assaultron vendor I met yesterday. I think she wants my babies.

I like the sunlight filtering through the trees. I never get tired of looking at that.

Awareness Perk - such a small thing but as a heavy VATS player it makes sense.

Did you know after talking to her and telling your thoughts on her songs... You get to listen to them on Diamond City Radio?

The lunch boxes. I have over thirty of them but I still can't hold back a smile when the noise maker goes maker! :)

The early experience that just floored me : I was very new and exploring south for the first time- came over the hill just above and east of the drive-in. Checked VATS, nothing but I could see movement just under that railroad bridge. I equipped my longest scoped-rifle to take a look.... there were feral dogs circling a guy...... he's shooting at them with a pipe pistol.... they take him down and kill him. All too far away for me to ever take a shot.

I watched a guy get mauled to death by dogs.

That was my welcome to the apocalypse moment .

I am walking through Diamond City and right in front of the church you see the school teacher and his robot getting married, and the robot thanks you for your previous advice.

I found that amusing.

I like being able to sprint. Especially appreciated when I hear a landmine start to beep.

I like the new power armor. Getting in and out, stomping around, being taller while wearing it, and always being aware of it when I have it on. So much better than the "power armor costume" in Fallout 3.

I like jumping off the Prydwen in my PA. Falling that far and not taking damage feels pretty badass.

I like the stupid little lunchbox surprise. I always enjoy opening them, even if they just contain a plastic spoon.

I like the lighting effects. This game looks really nice. Sunlight and shadows look great, and explosions are gorgeous.

I like modding my guns. Adding a reflex sight and an extended magazine, trying out different scopes, it's great to make the guns feel just right for my play-style.

I like the new quick-loot system. It does a good job of streamlining the scavenging part of the game, and helps keep the pace up.

I like the little ding when I earn XP. It's like Pavlovian conditioning, it triggers something in my brain and makes me feel good.

I like the constant discovery of new places to explore, new little environmental details, new surprising things. There's always something cool, different, or interesting to find.

Have you figured out why they have names like "Stan" on the front yet? Confuses the Hell out of me as they disappear once looted.

I really would like to know this so going to make a separate thread, sorry.

I really appreciate the unique companion responses to environments or locations, it's fun to hear what they have to say, and makes me want to revisit the same locations later with different companions just to compare. I can't really give too many examples without spoilers, but it just adds a little something special every time I find a new place (and often echoes my own internal thoughts as I discover and react to new locations). Besides trying to get their perks, its one of the reasons why I keep companions around, it just makes exploring a little more fun.

Minor spoiler below...(hopefully generalized enough so that it doesn't really spoil anything)

I also enjoyed that when I visited a certain faction for the first time and a certain NPC has been watching me and keeping tabs on my actions, and makes a report on those actions, how the dialog was customized to reflect actual details of things I had done so far in the game. Impressed me because players could visit that location for the first time at any point in their gameplay, varying widely in their experience, accomplishments and quests completed, and reputations, so I thought it was a nice touch that they took the time to record that level of detail and customize it to each playthrough (rather than a vague "oh yeah, she's done lots of good stuff around here")
