I usually go to the Nexus and sort by recommendation, but there are a lot of lightly-endorsed mods that I have found neat or useful. I like them to be semi-lore friendly (no Terminators or Xenomorphs like in MoMod), but even that isn't a deal-breaker. For example, some of the small mods that I like add a Sierra Madre vending machine to the sink, one speeds up waiting, one makes repair kits usable on armor or headgear, the Signature Armor/Weapons mods, etc.

Securitron companion is a real nice small mod.
I didnt like the quests to get him but in the end he is a great companion.
