A small question about Securitrons

Post » Sat Oct 23, 2010 1:14 pm

So I was watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL0Mj8eJaYA and at 0:42, the Securitron is saying 'The fountain is a restricted area'. Now, I know the demo was largely full of place holders. But I seriously love that voice, am I the only one hoping they keep that voice for the Securitrons?

(I only posted this to express my opinions and hear other peoples opinions on the Securitrons.)

Nah, imagined they would have a more Irish 40'ish old time cop accent.
This voice didn't really do it for me.

Really? It made me think of that American friendly police man you see in those old 'AMERICA!' type of films.

I love the Securitron's voices. They remind me of Protectrons but they are nonetheless cool. I'm really hoping Victor will be a companion. I especially like the Vegas Vic and Police pictures they have. lol I remember when we didn't know what they were called so we called them TV Robots :hubbahubba:

Edit: I agree I love that 'America!' type film voices they have.

If Victor is any indication, I imagine they would be more over the top like what Gabriel suggested.

I would hope so anyway. Their crazy personalities are what made the Mr. Handy and Gutsy models so much more awesome than the Protectrons, Sentry Bots and Robo Brains.

Not too thrilled with the voice myself. It sounds very vanilla and uninspired compared to the robot voices we have heard in the past like the stuck-up butler voice and personality of Mr. Handy, or the drill-instructor, gung-ho voice of the Gutsy models. Honestly, from the face on their video screens I was expecting something like an Irish or Scottish accent like so:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB4rzGdqQSk

You know, almost a parody of a policeman, because Mr. Handy's voice is a parody of hired help, and Gutsy's is the same way in regards to military men. If not that, I always thought a mafioso-type voice would be great, considering their function in Vegas. "Hey, buddy. The fountain, it is off limits to you. Capiche?"

The Securitron in the video comes off very dull and straightforward to me, but it could be just the line being said. Perhaps other lines show more interesting humor and voice work.

Thats video is from E3 so it's pretty much certain that is not the final voice of the Securitrons. They confirmed awhile back that the people doing voices for the characters back then were development staff being used as placeholders.

It might or might not give an idea of what they want them to sound like though.
