Small Question

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:14 pm

I just want to be %100 sure I don't do something wrong.

I know about not using anything from Oblivion in Morrowind, and vice versa,
but what about text from books that only appear in Oblivion?
We can recreate those books in Morrowind mods, right?

I think I remember an OB mod that added all the MW books, but I just want to double check here.

I don't see any problem with that...
You wouldn't be selling the Oblivion books and putting them off as your own work would you?

Yup, there are OB mods that add Daggerfall and Morrowind books. And, I think there's an MW mod that adds Daggerfall books. So, you've got precedent on your side.

So far every mod that has done this has been removed when Bethesda Softworks asked the author to remove the illegal mod. Although Morrowind books can be added to Oblivion (apparently) they have never allowed adding Oblivion books to Morrowind.

OK, thanks for the information.
Luckily, I only have to remove one book from my mod, but I am glad I checked here first. :)

Really? Huh, how peculiar.

Unfortuanntly, yes. I asked Gstaff awhile back about using books from Redguard and he said no. Yes, there have been mods that have added books from Oblivion to Morrowind, but that doesn't mean that they were allowed by Bethesda. Of course, if you're making a private mod that's not publicly released, then there shouldn't be a problem.
