Small things in the trailer

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 2:09 am

Not sure if this has been covered but at the 38 second mark, our hero runs toward a steep ledge and prompts a reactionary stopping animation. I wasn't sure if this was something that happens when the player is running and stops abrubtly, or when the player approaches a ledge and doesn't continue. I just want to be VERY sure that I can still do whatever the heck I want when traversing the world. I want to run off the ledge (to my death) if I so decide. Do you guys think that was an animation, something scripted for the trailer, or am I just worrying? With my acrobatics at 100 come November, I want to be jumping off stuff like crazy! Either way, phenomenal trailer!

I think it was scripted. The first part of the trailer completely took place in a letterbox perspective, I think the "real" gameplay only started once the main theme kicked in.

Did anyone notice how huge the mountain on the right was at the end of the trailer? I am speechless.

In the part with the assassination in the tavern you can see a bard playing a harp like instrument to the right. I though that was pretty neat, seeing as it was one of the suggestions I made to add music players to taverns.

I love everything about this picture. The stealth kill animation, the guy playing lyre, the lady sweeping, the alien-looking mer, the dynamic shadows.
But most importantly, is that a ladder on the left?

Every environment look INCREDIBLY detailed. Like if Bethesda really put their heart into making ALL environmnets unique and outstanding. They've definitely succeeded in that.

* The guy with a buzz-cut seems to have a tatoo (or is it blood?) under his left eye.

* There is a wooden wall to the right of the fighting scene between the humanoids.

* Light snow fall after the dragon is slayed.

* Big birds in the wood cutting scene.

* Water oxhidation in the river scene.

* Water wheel in the walking hooded guy in village scene.

The archer in the fall forest is shirtless and has no cuirass, BUT you can see a pauldron. This is more evidence that pauldrons are separated.

Skyrim is suppose to be the throat of the world...I'd be disappointed if it wasn't at least that big.

I'm a little confused though. In the nice background I got yesterday, the main nord guy's shoulder guard was on my left...but in the trailer it's on my right when we're facing each other. Does that mean we get to choose what side we put our shoulder guard thingies on or did they just flip it for s and g's?

Hi everyone, it's my first post.

I've spent last two hours on doing frame after frame anolysis of downloaded 720p trailer, and I suggest you doing so if you have enough free time. I've tried to focus on smaller (harder to notice while watching at full speed), mostly technical details, here is a list of what I found:

  • 1:07 very detailed skin high resolution texture on warrior's right arm, complexion, veins, even a bit of dirt
  • 1:23 archer behind a pillar
  • 1:31dragon's blood landing on warrior
  • 1:44 victim has an unusual facial feature, looks like burned skin, also nirnroot and water (very realistic in my opinion, not crystal clear and mirror-like because of the foggy weather)
  • 1:52-1:54 wounded dragon landing, rocks and debris flying (even casting shadows) and a pile of dirt forming in real time under it's body while it slides towards us
  • 2:13-2:19 dynamic dust-like snow, moved by the wind from the bottom of the ruins (or whatever building it is)

All things considered, I'm really impressed with graphics, especially high quality textures. If you are as hyped as I am, I really advise you to check the trailer once again, frame after frame. This will help you notice high resolution textures and overall incredible sharpness, no visible aliasing. Seriously, some frames made me wonder if this is really in-game trailer. Knowing that it is 360 version makes it even more exciting.

Is that an Orc woman sitting on the bench? Her skin looks kind of green-ish, and her face looks too hard to be one of the elves. Could be an old Altmer woman though.

Yes, that does appear to be an orc woman. Orcs, being a part of mer, do have similarities with the elves so yes it looks like it would be an altmer, however it could be the other way around (Altmer that looks like an orc)

Hard to tell, I zoomed in to try and make it out and it makes it even harder to tell whether or not she has a human-like nose and not orc-like.

Very small detail (if someone can screen it). At 1:12 there is a male walking down the steps on the very far lower right

On the far right at 1:32 (for only like a second) is what may be a Dunmer woman. Notice her color compared to other npcs

She has that same strange brow/nose shape as the Altmer lady.

Looks like a high elf to me. Nice shots though.

I agree, but more importantly, a high elf closer to morrowind art style than oblivion. awesome.

O.o that.... lute (/harp?).... I want....

Also, this game needs to stop being so amazing already, because I don't know if I can take the wait........

I like the Dragons, I think they are very cool looking, but if you think they are ugly, remember that there are different types and they may not all look like that.
In the scene with the old woman on the street it looks like there is a Bosmer in the brown vest. And I think the woman in the assassination scene is an Altmer.

I remember the elves in Morrowind looking very... Alien. (I think it was just the Bosmer females, though). I can't say I really like the look of those two.

Below the land-bridge city, you can see ships and docks in a port of some kind.

Don't see any verified male Bosmer but love the robe looks far better than any robes in Oblivion. :celebration:
However it does not look like it's cloth dynamic on it:(
