Smeagol

Would you guys like to see a smeagol like character or creature in Skyrim from Lord of the Rings? I think if this creature is not a character, I would like to see creatures along the lines of trogs from Fallout 3's the pit DLC

I prefer it when the developers are at least somewhat more creative.

I'd be more amused to find that the damsel in distress I have to rescue is actually Fargoth.

I'd prefer it in a cavern deep beneath a mountain on in island in the middle of a lake.

Nirn=/=Middle Earth
to be honest
Nirn>Middle Earth

P.S. Although having Adorable fan with some screws missing (most probably because Grand Champion left him to die) would be amusing

This.

There are a lot of fantasy worlds that have been better than Middle Earth. *ducks into bunker before Tolkien fans come with pitchforks*

You can be sure that if it wasn't for The Hobbit and TLotR's TES wouldn't exist in any recognizable form.

Nothing would exist how it does without any number of things, doesn't mean something created later is inferior to any one of it's influences.

I didn't say it was. Just pointing out how ridiculous it is for someone to say TES doesn't need Middle Earth is so obviously influenced by it. Take away the LotR influence and TES would be a shell of what it is.

I understand LotR is a huge inspiration for modern fantasy RPGs, but I have to say... the world of Nirn is much more constructed, and more intriguing. It doesn't mimic LotR like other games, but takes it to a whole new level, to the point it you can't compare the two. I agree with the above post. I don't know about a Smeagol-like character in Skyrim though, maybe a Draugr that is named Smeagol or Gollum? :twirl:

"any recognizable form"?
I don't think so.
TES would be different without Tolkien fantasy foundation, sure, but it still could exist
Why I'm so sure? Because foundation for that still exist in folklore (fairy tales, legends, eposes, etc.)
Folklore is actual foundation for fantasy, not Hobbit or LotR

It was definitely insinuated. Not my fault that developers aren't as creative as you would hope for.

Guess you don't know what it means when I said that it wouldn't exist in any recognizable form. It means that it would exist, but be different. Tolkien brought together a lot of folklore that wasn't done before. It is widely recognized that Tolkien is what made modern fantasy what it is today.

It's never been even close to insinuated that The Elder Scrolls wasn't influenced by Tolkien. Every single English-language movie/book/game/whatever that involves a persistent fantasy world has been influenced by Tolkien, because he did it first. Unless you count the Arthurian legends.

Maybe
Still only because Ford Model T was first "real" car, doesn't mean that it is better than Audi R8

I dunno, it'd be pretty cool if they had a bunch of Balrogs running around all buddybuddy with the dragons...maybe you have to fight Balrogs at the same time you're fighting dragons sometimes...
