No smith in Morthal?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 2:20 pm

I was in morthal and wanted to buy some smithing supplies...i walked around and around...there is NO BLACKSMITH. am i just blind? how can there be a "town" without a blacksmith? You run an entire hold without a smith to maintain your weapons? i guess im not surprised, morthal svcks anyway. time to slaughter the entire town for not having what i want. :D

i checked too, and i cant find a smith. However i found a tanning rack near the jarl's longhouse.
If u look on the map of distribution of towns on elderscrollswikia/uesp, you can see there are actually only 8 major cities: dawnstar, solitude, markarth slide, windhelm, winterhold, falkreath, whiterun and riften. There aint no morthal.....so i guess maybe its becuz morthal is the latest 'town' of skyrim?

And...Markarth has 2 smith. One at the palace, other at the town. Not to mention there are 2 smelters, 2 tanning racks and 2 grindstones etc
seriously....ask one of those smiths and move to morthal

Maintaining weapons is arbitrary in Skyrim. No repairs needed!

To be honest Morthal is a waste of a city, that's just my opinion anyway. Apart from quests I find no reason to go there, is it actually catergorised as a city or not?

I thought Morthal was just part of the Pale, which Dawnstar is the capital of.

Morthal is supposed to be a run down slum of a town, apparantly. (Doesnt really look much different to a few other 'normal' towns though)
So i'd guess thats why theres no blacksmith.

No blacksmith in the town itself, depending on the status of the civil war in your game there are crafting stations and faction quartermaster traders within each of the hold camps for each side in the war.

If there's one thing every settlement should have, it's a blacksmith. Every community needs someone locally who can make and repair tools, shoe horses, etc. Why they don't in Skyrim, I'll never know.

I do find it odd, though, that Morthal does not have one while Shor's Stone does.

I was kinda disappointed skyrim had no capitol city, kinda like imperial city. Even poor countries have capitol cities.

Morthal's hold doesn't seem the richest around, but yeah, a blacksmith should be there. Heck, there's one in Riverwood for like 10 citizens.

Guys it is not that unusual. Check out Winterhold, there is not a blacksmith there either.

Morthal, Dawnstar, Winterhold, and Falkreath are the small capitals of Holds. Only the big 5 have everything. Dawnstar has a blacksmith and 2 mines but no alchemist and no merchant. Winterhold has a merchant but no alchemist or blacksmith, and so and so on.

Actually Dawnstar does have an alchemist, the shop is called The Mortar and Pestle and it's owned by Frida.

Morthal does have a smith.

He is on the edge of town.

It's not as bad as Dawnstar. Dawnstar has a blacksmith, but she doesn't have a worktable or grindstone... >_>

Dawnstar actually has a grindstone in the Windpeak Inn side yard, near the wood chopping block. You are however correct that there is no workbench in town which is indeed annoying. Personally, I think every hold capitial should have the full slate of crafting stations available from a simple player convienence standpoint.

I agree with you there. I also think they should ageneral store also but a Blacksmith really is someone you really need.
