Smithing Inquiry

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:20 am

So help out a noob out and explain:

I have improved all of my armour and weapons once, and they are now listed as epic or exquisite.
It seems I could improve them more by spending more time at the grindstone but it says I don't have the skill.
I have 80 smithing skill and the only perk I don't have yet is dragon/daedric armour.
How do I get the experience to take my armour/weapons all the way to legendary?

Thanks for any helpful input!

Explains it all.
Smithing without perks will require potions and gear with fortify smithing to be able to make anything Legendary. With perks it takes a lot less, and using the prior mentioned gear and potions leads to items having huge numbers.

How much you can improve an item depends on skill and perks.

Once you get to 100 try to craft with a blacksmithing potion then you can over-max the rating.

Drink a potion that fortifies smithing or wear an enchantment that does the same. A single +20% will get you to legendary.

Yep, even though an item is legendary, you can still refine it more if you make yourself a special smithing suit with all smithing enchantments and a potion too. Plus, if your enchanting is good enough to do that, you can plonk some dual enchantments on the gear then strut around like a bau5 :)
