Is Smithing just Armourer? Repairing weapons and armor?

I feel that smithing will be just repairing your armor, not upgrading it, can anyone confirm it is not like this?

It has been said that you can forge your own armor, so it's not just that.

Mmm... I remember it to be said in the Game Informer, I don't know if it was in the HUB too... but I'm pretty sure about what I'm saying.

I don't think so because reairing armours simply isn't the same as smithing...

A Smith can create armor from raw materials. That's what they do.

I seem to remember, as does Cayo, reading in a recent article that you will be able to craft items. I remember pausing when I read it because it was 'predicted' in the speculation thread, but I don't remember what article it was.

I may go back and re-read everything so I can point it out... and to get another temporary Skyrim 'fix'.
