Is smithing needed to have good forsworn armor you think?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:15 pm

My orc shaman uses one-handed, light armor, conjuration, destruction and enchanting.
So good light armor would come handy, but i like to keep my forsworn armor as it fits her well.
But when i think about shaman, then i don't think there will be much smithing in there.
However, an orc learns how to smith in their childhood i believe...so it may make a bit sense.

Good forsworn armor can also be made with high enchanting, right?

Well you can't make Forsworn armour in game so the only way to improve it is by using the workbench. Best to use enchanted gear and potions that increase smithing to add a better AR. Also you're right that orcs are trained how to smith at a young age so it's understandable that your character should have some knowledge of the skill.

Also
Spoiler
If you side with Mannach(?) at the end of the Forsworn Conspiracy quest in Markath you'll receive "Armour of the Old Gods". It looks identical to the forsworn armour but has some nice enchants that should suit a shaman character type well.

Perhaps i should train my smithing to lvl 60 (then i can improve enchanted items, seems like shaman work to me ) And put a few perks in it.
And i know i can only upgrade forsworn armor, not make them. But upgrading is fine enough for me.

Any armor in the game can be improved beyond the damage-reduction cap with a high-enough smithing skill, which can be fortified far above 100. Search around for threads and articles on the subject.
