Sneak attacks for friendly NPC′s

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:39 am

So in Skyrim we will have one shot sneak attacks, now there should be no reason that can′t happen to us. So what I′d like to see is a quest. A quest where you end up with the company of some NPC for a certain period of time but what you as the player are not supposed to know before hand is that he is after your life, so you would not know at start but through the quest you could detect subtles (please not blunt ones...) clues that the NPC wants you dead and that you should be careful.

If you don′t bring the matter up to the NPC or don′t watch out then during some part of the quest where the two of you should have to let′s say sleep through some period of time while waiting for some event to happen, then the NPC should assassinate you in your sleep and you should get a quick look of the NPC doing the attack and then you should die.

Would you want such a quest in Skyrim ? I know I would :D

I would have liked it if you hadn't spoiled it for me here. That might have been a memorable quest but Ellert spoiled it.

Edit: :teehee: Its actually a good idea.

Please note that only daggers and bows are capable of one hitting medium strong foes, I don't know about the very tough enemies and creatures. But the main idea with stealth improvments was to make the stealth weapons better, so a long blade wouldn't cause a lethal hit. However, it would be better if we wouldn't instantly die, instead in that scenario, the NPC could leave us without much on us and after asking around in the town we got the quest from we would know his whereabouts and pay a visit. Ofcourse not by raising the other NPCs disposition, but beating the answer from the friends of the NPC who back stabbed you. It could be a better way, instead of simply killing us, forcing us to reload and attack first.

He/She should be able to kill weak to medium pcs but the really strong ones should just be left nearly dead after the first attack... also:
Spoiler
Lets say this is a Dark Brotherhood quest were you have to sneak into a large stronghold and assassinate its lord with a fellow Dark Brotherhood member (A quest a bit before should be killing the Morag Tongs leader on an open streat without getting cut thus proving your guild the best assassin guild in all of Tamriel.). But 'somehow' the lord knew about the attack and the version of him you find sleeping in his bed is actually a dead servant with a pinch of illusion... so you'll end up in the lords prison with you 'trustworthy' friend and as you sleep to 'serve your time' you awake with him over you and the key to your cell on his body... perhaps some of the evidence could be a Morag Tong Document hidden under your pillow stating that he is a highranking member and here to kill you while you sleep... the key should of course always be on his body...
and next time use spoilers so you don't ruin it for everybody...

D: But I really want to die from betrayal GorbadPS3 cos I was not smart enough to see it coming! Really I love such underhanded cheap tricks especially when they are played out on me. Maybe not if you are given 0 warnings but his intent could be shown clearly like if he left you with a pair of goblins and didn′t help you any just watching you fight or if you noticed him walk past a trap looking towards it clearly showing that he knows it is there but he does not warn you about it, and if you would not bring the matter up to him he should get the opportunity to get me in my sleep.

Edit: I don′t put a spoiler tag because I am just speaking of examples, not of quests that have been confirmed or anything, so I am not really spoiling anything but ideas XD

Not a bad idea, imagine the summitmist manor DB quest but you're not the killer. That would put some tension in the air!

Yeah it′s oki but I don′t see why people want the Morang Tong so much, how strong can that faction be when their main base of operation has been blown to bits ?
BTW you should never trust a companion again :P even if they do not mean any harm they could harm you, like do you believe that Gogron gro-Bolmog in the Dark Brotherhood meant harm to his pet rabbit ? Well Telaendril can tell you all about it

So I can kill 'em... and they probably moved to Skyrim... it would be a nice thing for DB to kill...
