Sneak Attacks Without Alerting Others

Post » Wed Jan 08, 2014 6:27 pm

I've been using a sword with sneak attacks to kill enemies, but I've found that doing so alerts other enemies (I'm assuming by sound). In one scenario two bandits where sleeping close to each other. I got a sneak kill on one of them and it awoke the other. Is it possible to perform this kind of attack with alerting others? Otherwise it seems kinda pointless.

Thanks!

higher sneak, and using daggers and bows(which are quieter) .

IMO, it is the only real use for daggers.

Daggers are quiet, and so are bows (unless you miss, which enemies then investigate).

Any other weapon makes noises.

It sounds like you don't have high enough skill in sneek to pull it off yet. With some more skill and skill point invested in it you will.

PS: Wearing heavy armor will make it harder then with light too....

If you use the restoration loop and make a really high sneak enchantment + muffle, you can do anything you want without being seen.

Daggers have the best chance of avoiding detection by others when sneaking assuming your skill is high enough. Bows work nicely as well but that doesn't seem immersive/realistic at all to me. Even if the target is only wearing clothing the arrow would still make a loud sound when striking the target. Any kind of armor would sound like someone was ringing a bell.

As well as being quiet for sneak attacks, bows are also useful for misleading enemies as they will look for the sound of the arrow landing, wherever you want them too, if you deliberately miss.

Daggers are completely quiet. You can literally kill an enemy sitting right next to another one without being heard. They are the only weapon capable of this. Bows still make sound.

The bigger the weapon, the more noise it makes. Anything above a dagger is going to make noise to alert people. So the dagger is the best solution if it has to be a melee take down.

Just don't use a bound dagger... it's bugged and isn't silent like a dagger should be. (what was the point in adding it then )

Good point, that was a total bummer when I found that out.
