Sneak AI issues

It seemed to me like he just stood there for way to long, like he was waiting to be shot just like his buddy. A couple moments of gaping in surprise is enough, before you draw the bowstring again he should either be looking around for you on guard, or taking cover.

This poll neglects the fact that the slow motion perk was activated, which slows down time whever the player takes aim with the bow.

If you watch the flames, it's pretty obvious. Who knows how the AI might have reacted given a normal span of time.

LastDuaL is right. I never noticed that. Good find! :foodndrink:
The player's Archery skill is like 60 or something in the demo, so it makes sense that the slow time perk is chosen.

Anyway, I still think though that the bandit should have moved. A few seconds passed and moving wouldn't have hurt. If he could have the time to draw his sword, he could also have the time to turn or around or at least move a bit, despite the slow time perk.

The shock argument is a bit stupid. I'd call that denial as no one can honestly say that a real person would act like that if hes buddy standing right next to him was shot. Im hopeful though that Bethesda would fix it as they seem to want to make Skyrim polished.

LOL @ the "shock" argument. Some of you guys are really in denial. It was bad AI.

Yeah, that argument honestly is just denial.

Well, it seems that everybody has forgotten the AI in Oblivion.
Bandit 1: How are you?
Bandit 2: I saw some mudcra- ugh! *arrow hits*
Bandit 1 immediately walks away like nothing happened.

So don't even start with this.

Yeah it's really been improved for Skyrim

Bandit 1: How are you?
Bandit 2: I saw some mudcra- ugh! *arrow hits*
Bandit 1: draws sword and stares at wall

And I also want to expand on how stupid the shock argument is. If he was in shock, he wouldn't have drawn his sword. If he had enough sense to draw his sword, he would have had enough sense to at least stagger backwards, or quickly look around for the attacker.

True, but replace mudcrab with mammoth in this case :P

It's more of a reaction than you would have ever gotten in Oblivion. And c'mon, we don't buy TES games for their excellent AI anyway :P

Does anyone have a freeze frame of that bandit in ready position? Without any text bubbles?

Maybe he didn't realise there was an arrow in him and thought he just suddenly died.

You must admit that AI is a very hard thing to master in videogames. Cut Bethesda some slack.

True, AI is still a very fragile thing. Too much control and pressure and it just plain doesn't work... too little and you have the Terminator movies.

I was reading another post earlier, and remembered from an interview with Todd earlier on, that he had done a run thru in an dungeon (this may be from the first release info in gameinformer) and that as he was sneaking in for a kill with a bow, he had used a slow spell to shoot a guy with an arrow, I had thought it was the dark elf, but in the demo he stabs the dark elf when he tries to run, so maybe this explains the guy just standing there ? does any1 else remember this, I am gonna have to go back and re read some of the old release stuff.

You must not remember the Oblivion demo. Where they showed several things that were cut from the game.

I'm actually glad to see this, at least they aren't giving us false advertisemant.
